...where did they go? I looked all over these boards and havn't seen hide nor hair of them. I used to love coming here to read what Those crazy old rangers wrote about their travels and hunts. How they seem to be the only people who liked going out of doors and hunting for the pleasure of it. And now we have seem to have taken a more serious note in the dealings of the galaxy. I'm not saying thats a bad thing but I always liked seeing y'all share your stories of your momorable hunts. AndI have concocted a little story of my own. It's nothing compared to the old times, but i hope it will bring a smile to your face and a memory to your mind.....

The battle worn ranger pulled out a repair kit from his pack. His trusty bowcaster had really taken beating taking down that last kima. He could still remember when he had bought the bowcaster from that retired bounty hunter. The bounty hunter claimed in the old days, when jedi were still around, he had killed a few. At the time the ranger didn't belive it, but after so many years of using no other weapon, he doughted it no longer. He had heard a rumor of a new breed of kamurra that had been roaming around talus. There were several deaths blamed on this new breed. So naturaly after hearing this, he headed to the lateat siting. He was sitting in a simple camp he had constructed, with his comlink turned down, cleaning the dirt and grim that had accumulated in his bowcaster. When suddenly he heard something on the com that caught his attention. There had been another siting of the new kamurra! he made a mental note of the coordenates they gave, it was to the far west just north of the mite caves. He knew that area well, thats where he had lived for several years. He turned down the volume again, the noise hurt his head, it had a long time since he had been used to the noise and hustle of city life.Thats what usaly happened to rangers. After he had finished cleaning his bowcaster he pulled out some food he had foraged earlier and ate his dinner, afterwards he crawled into the tent and feel into a deep sleep.

The next day he was waken by rain leaking through the poor quality leather of the tent. It made no matter to the ranger, he had much worse happen to him. After eating some fruit he had picked from a near by tree he put on his pack, picked up his bowcaster, dismanteled his camp and started out in the direction of the latest sitings. After several hours of uneventful hiking he came to an open plain near the coordinates they gave out over the comlink. He quickly camoflauged him self using some hide, mud, grass, and other floiage from around him. He scaned the herizon, but no signs of life. The ranger examined the ground and bushs around him for anything that might show where an animal went. There! He saw several fresh hoof prints leading off to the south. he quickly followed the prints for several hundered meters. He had to hurrey befor the rain washed them away. when he smelled the stench of wet fur he knew he had to be close.

The rain obscured his feild of veiw, he had to get closer then he wnted. He laid down on the ground, pulled out the last few traps, and medpacks from his pack. He looked down at what he had: a sonic pulse and some p-darts. Just enough to slow down a small platoon of trando slavers. He slowly and quitly crawled meter by meter closer to his prey, until he could just see an outline of a group of large quadrupeds. The ranger pulled the sonic pulse bomb from his pocket, thumbed the timer button and threw it in the center of the group, and coverd his ears for just a second. He grabed his bowcaster and looked through the sights. He saw three large kammurras, all stuned and disoreanted. He aimed for the nearest kammura's knee caps, and fired. it immediatly feel over, unable to move. He looked for the second kammura, it was still stuned. the ranger fired a single shot aimed for the body, the animal started to bleed and was brought back to it's senses and saw where the ranger was. it started to charge. the ranger knew that in a few seconds the other two kamurras would figure out what was happening and join in, he had to stop messing around and finish them off. He took carful aim at the charging kammura's bleeding wound and opened fire. The kammura let out a roar of pain as it feel to the ground, just this side of death. The ranger took pitty on the creature and shot it's head. He took a quick look over at the other two kammuras, the one he had disabled wasstill strugling, the other looking for him, as the ranger still lay prone he threw one of his last p-darts as best he could at the still abled kammura. With what he knew was mainly luck, the trap hit his enemy right in the neck. The kammura's movments slowed down noticably, but the eyes found the ranger quick enough. this kammura was noticably more cleaver then the first, instead of charging, it ran behind a lage bolder, out of site. The ranger smiled to himself, this pack must have been geneticaly enhanced, he had never seen a creature use such tactics in a battle. The disabled kammura had begun to copy it's sibling but the ranger set his bowcaster to full auto and let the creature have it. When he had finished it off and was looking for his last target he received a swift kick to the ribs. Rolling on his back. he saw that the kammura had krept up on him, the dart's poison had worn off. Knowing there was nothing else to do, the ranger droped his bowcaster and pulled out a hunting knife and jabed at the kammura's leg but missed. He used his arm's momentem to slash at the rear legs and made contact. the kammura let out an anguished yelp and nearly feel ontop on the ranger. After pulling his arm from beneath the kammura's still living body, he jabed at where the heart waf and finaly killed it.

After taking a deep breath the pain set in. The ranger took a med pack and quickly applied it his cracked ribs. He immediatly felt better. Using the hunting knife he had pulled out, he cut off the head of the nearest kammura. He always kept a trophey of the rare kills. He took the extra time to set up a much more elberate camp. He put the head into a special anti-decay bag, and sent a message to the athorities. After eating some foraged food, and immediatly feel into an uneasy sleep. he was awakened by the sound of a approching shuttle. On board was a high ranking Fed-Dub officer. The fed-dub officer tryed to give the ranger a reward for eliminating the kammura threat. The ranger had little use for such large sums of money, the money he got from his spare hides and bones was plenty. The ranger refused the reward with a simple no thanks. And with that he walked away, disappering into his surroundings.
