Well, it is 19 pages so I'm not reading it.
But shouldnt Rangers have the /dragincapped player command? I always picture a Ranger as a person who leads a group of foolhardy city folk into the wilderness.. lets them get into trouble and then /rescues them. Just as easily as we can drop a stim-b on someone we could at least be able to drag an incapped player to safety. Would be a nice addition to /rescue.

Has anyone heard recently if there is any date when any of these possible changes is going to take place?

I have to concur with this post about making the ranger weaponry competitive. Lets take a look at a big game hunter. A big game hunter (in real life) has the weapons required to make him superior (not just competitive) with the large animals he hunts. He has specialized weapons for this task that someone who isn't a big game hunter would probably not use (elephant gun anyone?). Now, I'm not saying that the ranger's weaponry should make him superior to everyone, I'm just saying give him a weapon that allows him to kill animals easily with some degree of skill involved as to what special skills to use against each type of animal. These weapons should also make the ranger competitive in PvP combat. That is competitive, not superior to everyone else. These weapons could utilize skills learned in the marksman or brawler professions but be unique to the ranger profession so that someone wanting to be a ranger does need to decide on what his weaknesses are going to be.
As to the mention that the person who started this thread has moved on...has anyone thought of trying to send an email his way so that he could maybe point whoever is in charge of this in this thread's direction?
I hope I was clear in expressing my ideas here...if anyone is confused about something I said I will be glad to expound upon it.

I wouldn't want to compete with the other professions, but giving the Rangers a huge elephant-class gun to use that's pretty effective in their hands and even MORE effective in the hands of a Rifleman/Ranger would be a great asset.
Keep in mind, the Ranger profession is about finding and harvesting, not killing. SWG's profession system is designed to allow you to pick up multiple professions to compliment each other. For example, yes thing things need to be dead for you to harvest them, but what if you're a Ranger who prefers a knife? Or bare handed? There can be no assumption that we all use rifles (though I do), nor can we over-lap with the rifle/pistol/brawler professions such that we do their job as well as they do, plus have our own profession.
The key is giving us tools that, should we wish to also have that profession, we do BOTH professions better. For example, while a Master Sniper is good, a Master Sniper/Master Conceal Ranger should be better. Consequently, a gun in the hands of the latter should be more effective than in the hands of the former, because of the combination.
Just my 2 credits.

this is not a necro, in fact, i never saw this post as I was not a Ranger at the time. All I can say is this: we have come a long way in our ideas, but what we want is still the same. 1.5 years, and no change (to what we have, or our goals). Keep up the good work Rangers. We are on the table again...they are talking about us...can it be long (optimistic, eh?)
