Thinking of returning to my Ranger roots, but I want to know if Creatures now pack enough of a whallop to make a viable character who's only offense is based on his pets.

OR, what would you recommend Ibuy with those last 47 points?

You can do MR/MCH and BH 0300. With BH 0300 you get Improved Critical shot which is still a pretty nasty special if you do it with an Advanced Laser Rifle. However you'll always pull aggro since you'll still be hitting whatever you're attacking for more damage than your pets are doing. It's a good template for a support role in a group where some other elite elite combat profession is doing the primary damage while you and your pets do 2000+ combined.

I tried MCH for a bit and grew tired of pets not following properly when out hunting. Even if I was travelling by mount, the pets I had on follow would occasionally stop at a server line and not cross it. I'd always have to loop back and tell it to follow. Pets are pretty cool now, but I didn't like all the stuff outside of combat I had to do just to get them to do something as simple as following me.

Right now im

MCH
Ranger 4/0/4/1
Rifle 0/4/0/0

I conceal myself with my ranger skills. Go under cover. Send my pets to tank and do damage. Then use improved conceal shot. This combo has actually been working fine for me with only one issue. That being you cant go into cover if your pets are within 10m of you. Also I use a harvesting droid to get my materials (and yes i know the issues with them but I still use it) so i can stay under cover while fighting a new target.

They've gotten worse, actually. The other day, I was on my mount running around Naboo and my pets *COULDN'T KEEPUP WITH THE MOUNT ANYMORE.*

That NEVER used to happen - pets would sprint and even keep up with the slower speeders. Now, they can't even keep up with burst run - I kid you not.

I have no idea if anybody else has noticed this, but it ruins much of the fun of CH.

EXACTLY! In combat, the pets rock. Even though they're not tanks anymore, I see them now as utility damage, ... more like DoTs that tick at 600+ every second I loved it, but I just couldn't get past the inconvenience of them not able to follow ... even when I'm on a mount and not a swoop. It's horribly inconvenient and a hassle to call them everytime I reached a mission point ... not to mention immersion breaking.

Pop a scout camp and think of it as your rendezvous point?

Hoping I've still got a (novice) CH on test center when we get back there to see how its changed.

The pet speed thing is broken. I'll have to check the CH forums to see if its been brought up over there. Im sure it probaly has. But when my cats cant keep up with my Cu'Pa's i know theres something wrong.

Im definatly liking my template more and more as I learn to use it better. Now if we could just get that darned /pettaunt command.

No you wont. See its a matter of tactics and people arent really thinking the template through. Creatures are more powerful now then they ever have been. Even back to the Graul Maul days.

There is an issue with pet hate. Right now the pets aren't doing as much DPS as their owners. This wouldnt be an issue with an MCH/MR unless they were using an advanced laser(CL50 decent damage no cert needed) to assist in the damage. Its true the target might come back and attack you because it realized your the one that matters. But put yourself prone and conceal and the chances of the target aggroing you go down.

Think of your pet's logically. An MCH/MR has to know that BE pets are the ONLY way to go. Yeah i know theres a whole "I dont like frankenpets i want real" and thats fine. But BE pets are the way to go especially now that the CH's have been hindered with max CL70 in a world where a tanc mite is a CL60 non-mission.

Enrage and Embolden are your friends. Post CURB these commands actually do something. Go fiqure.

Killing something as an MCH/MR is slow. Do what I did. Forget master ranger since camps mean nothing. Traps arent useful unless you want the creature to aggro to you. And pick up Rifle 0/4/0/0 and get an advanced laser. Conceal yourself and do a couple improved conceal shots AFTER your pets have gotten a few good bites in. Hate builds in the target. If your pets are the ones increasing the hate first then you have some damage you can apply the target wont notice.

Two CH issues
- max of 70 CL levels is way to low. The comprimise of going CL80 is a good one. But CL100-150 is really where we should be with grouped pets equivelent to the changes from the CURB
- No way to get a pet to taunt. This one is almost inexcusable since it makes CH worthless to a mixed combat/CH template. The only thing a pet does in this case is act as a DOT weapon adding damage. Adding /pet taunt to CH wouldnt be hard and it would make things easy and viable to have a mixed CH/Combat template
- CH/Rifle issue. When your pets are near you you cant do /cover because they count as detecting you. This is bad as well. But im working around it.
- Creatures arent sprinting anymore. Your pets cant keep up with you even when your mounted on say a CUPA

Take your time and learn tactics with your BE pets. A pure MCH/MR is a slow killer of creatures but one that works. A mixed MCH/Ranger/Rifle is one that can help its own pets.

Remember pets regen a lot faster now post curb unlike pre-curbs no regen. So you dont have to constantly hit them with pet stims. And chef pet foods are really really strong and under used. Learn the foods and it will benefit you as well.
