Thread: How to single pull in the middle of angry mobs?

I am currently a MR/MR ranger rifle, and cannot seem to single pull red mobs. For example;

Dathmoore Insect meat. I am hunting the spiders for a BE customer of mine, and I keep getting my butt wooped. I was told that if I used a pet, it would be able to somehow pull one solo, bit the basic ones I have seem to die in 2 shots. I try teh P-Dart, but since spiders have a ranged attack, no luck there.

Any advice? do I need to go higher in CH to get a big enough pet to have it agro, then run back to me? How does it all work?

Really in a pickle here, and yes, I am new to this type of hunting. Yellow solo mobs all day with rifle and P-Darts. I guess it's time to take off the training wheels and get in with the big boys/girls =P.

Get a droid or a low level pet.

/say Attack;
/pause 2;
/say follow;
/pause 2;
/say follow;

Thats my macro for single pulling with a droid. Works quite well. If using a droid make sure he has a combat module. Good armor/hitpoints.

1. Turn off autoattack.
2. Throw a trap from 45-50m.
3. Start running backwards.
4. Start attacking once the creature has left the pack.

I think the R3 models work well as they have no ranged attack like a probot which im pretty sure agros the lot but i cant be compleatly sure on that fact

My set-up is same as Nemos. Just make sure you turn off auto-fire like he says.

Another option (slightly riskier, much shorter range, requires quite a bit of practice but no specific skill set or tool to do):
1. Walk up to the agro creatures until you see the ? float up.
2. Slowly move until you see the ! float up on one creature.
3. Run back out of assist range.
4. Attack.

Autoattack shouldn't start up until you attack at least once so you can leave it on with this method.

Use camo. If you aren't using camo you are going to have to make a lot of retreats.

This is my method:

Toss a P-dart. Allow the target to aggro you. Let the target approach until they are at least 20m away from the next mob member. Then toss another P-dart andhit them with a snare shot. This will usually root them (depending on the type of mob).

If you fire a shot while they are too close to another mob member, then they will discover you and you'll have a mess on your hands. If you do get more than one aggro (seems more common with some types of mobs) then kite them until all but one returns to the lair. Then stop, hit with another trap, and finish them off.

It is not very productive to try this without camo for red con mobs. No problem with yellow as they don't really care that you are there.

For some reason I forgot how to properly pull since coming back, but the trap at 45m thing works just fine. Picked myself up quite a few animals doing that and it works great as a pistoleer since I can't shoot them until they run at me.

But heh, thought I'd note it since I believe this thread reminded me.

This is the method I use... it worked very well for Sordaan's hunting quests.

Make a crate of wire mesh traps.. why wire mesh? Because they take jeack resources and come in a nice pack of five.
Pack a bunch of p-darts also.

Throw a wire mesh at the creature.. it should start charging towards you. You can pop a few shots on it once it gets far away enough from the pack. Knock it down, use startleshot, toss a P-dart, make some distance and wail away.

Traps don't aggro other creatures, so you can always pull a single one with trap. The trick is to know how far away from the pack it needs to be before you start bustin' some caps on it. Though the creatures are red, you still should be able to land a trap or two on it.

I use a trapping droid and throw anything but p-darts (wire mesh or glow mesh). then i use "come" (follow me) and then the thing aggro's nicely. Also use camo liberally
