I added the part

Creature Loot needs to gotten by /harveting loot, not any non-ranger or even non-scout

/Search Lair needs to be a command that only rangers get at Frontiering I.

And they STILL need to fix /forage to get rare items........

as a suggestion, but the Big Patch is going to put in tuesday or wednesday, so it's very unlikely my suggestion will be done.

I think these are things that were supposed to be part of the game but was not ready at release.

I am not sure if it will hurt the ranger though (I have not made my mind up on this one). If it is eggs and items that are not currenty in the game then I cannot see how it would hurt the current ranger situation. It certainly is of zero benefit for the ranger and it sounds like there would be no need for the ranger to be looting a nest and or creatures. In fact if high level creatures are the only ones who can drop good stuff then a ranger certainly will not be the one looting it. All a ranger gets to do is harvest.

If this new loot can be used as alternatives to harvesting loot then I would agree 100% that it will hurt the ranger.

I can't see how adding additional content into the game for everyone without taking anything away from Rangers can do any harm at all? I don't understand why you think that only a Ranger or possibly Scout should be able to pick something up that a creature has on it's body. It's not like a loose item takes any know how to gather, where hide, bone or meat do take at least some training to gather effectively. And how much skill do you think it should take to take an egg out of a nest? Personally I don't feel this change has anything to do with Rangers at all.

Just my opinion, and I've been wrong before.

I think the idea behind rare harvested loot is along the lines of the Dragon Pearls found in the gizzard of some older Krayt Dragons... in which case it should take Hunter, if not Novice Ranger to harvest them.

Aside from that, I dont see any problem with Scouts being able to harvest from a nest... almost everyone is a scout anyhow.

From patch notes:

- Added special loot items for a number of creature types. These items can only be found on specific creatures. Many of these items are components which can be used in the crafting process. Start looking.
- Added exceptional and legendary item/component drops. These items are very rare and are found only on high level creatures.

In addition loot in lairs, etc:

- Creature lairs now have a "Search Lair" option. This option may only be used once per lair.
- Searching a creature lair may now yield egg resources or animal samples. The eggs can be used for food crafting
- Animal samples may be used in animal particle effects generator craftable by an artisan with Engineering I.

nail on head right there, and also why i agree

what *IS* the point of a ranger, EVERYONE has novice scout, its almost guaranteed anyone with a combat profession can harvest, id say 90%.. we give up alot of combat proficiency to be able to do...what again?

if everyone can get nice *organics* off nests why would you ever ask a ranger to come along, we dont see anything special in examins a master scout wont(bh requires this)

we dont harvest much more than a master scout does off a kill, so if everyone can get uber organic type loot off nests, what then is the meaning of ranger?

maybe if they made rangers able to harvest more than once(doubling or tripling the harvested items) and let rangers search nests(it would take alot of skill to search a nest without waking and upsetting whatever is inside) , but by and far, as long as we are , scouts with camps that require stuff we cant forage/harvest, what is the point of us?

I will forward your concerns.

However...why should search lair be Ranger only if all that is being returned are eggs for crafting and dna samples for bio-engineers? What about that infringes on the Ranger profession?

Anyone can already loot a creature, it's just they always have nothing. Now a few of them might have something - this is no different than NPC's...some of them have nothing, some of them have something....making this a limited function would be like....well...making looting NPC corpses Marksman only.

I really wouldn't be overly concerned with this until AFTER it has gone to the live servers and we have had a chance to observe the impact (if any, which I am expecting to be virtually nil).

But, as I said, I will forward your concern that these things will infringe on Scout/Rangers.

that all depends on waht the eggs can be used for really

maybe i was a bit too overboard, i do not care about inorganics at all, looting a mob is looting a mob, but when a source of organics appears that isnt tied to scout/ranger then i get a bit jumpy

its hard enough to havefind a amrket on my server right now, the bh/ch/everyone with novice scout craze hurts, i dont wanna have to fight 100% of the players for organic supplies.

Thank you Minerus,

It's hard to tell how important or trivial it is with out knowing all the facts, but they did raise red flag for me.Also many rangers have been complaning that there is no real deference between scouts and rangers, and this could be a great way to make one, of many I hope.

Keep up the good work and again thank you.

The question realy is can the Artisan use these new looted materials as replacement ingrediants of the harvested ones.

If so then it hurts the Ranger. Do not need to wait to go live to determine this.

Now if the intention is to give the Artisan an alternative to harvested goods in their manufacturing but keep the impact to the Ranger at a minimum, then yes, you would need to wait until it goes live to debate the impact.

So what is the intention of this new loot? New manufactured items, or additional alternative materials?

I don't think you're going to be seeing creature loot as organics for crafting...generally speaking, when you loot something (loot, not harvest), it is an immediately usable item, or in the case of skill enhancements, a broken immediately usable item.

The eggs from lairs sounds like new recipies for chef, but I'm just guessing. The DNA samples well, just another source for bio-engineers.

We may see some business from chefs and bio-engineers wanting these items from lairs, but I kind of doubt that these things are going to be any kind of replacement or viable alternative to harvested organics.

Remember, loot and harvest are two different commands that do different things.
