Ranger Archive

Enchanters got the shaft for a long time in EQ, and no one would play them. Back then, CH were necromancers, and BH were druids. Everyone played the easy classes. The few who stuck with enchanter when it's day finally came were well rewarded. Now you simply cannot have a high level group without an enchanter or three.

Now I realize that other classes are broken too, like Droid Engineer, Commando, Chef, etc, but think about it. How many other rangers do you know on your server? We're few and far between. While the mega classes like Bounty Hunter, and CH abound. So I saystick it out. Our day will come. I know one day I'll hear "Endor group looking for Ranger!" (or more likely just get a tell)

So what do you think? Are we the new enchanters? Will we get useful skills and become worth it for groups?

I LOVE being a Ranger. Even if a master scout is essentially as good as I am, I'm still proud to be a ranger, just because you guys are such a great bunch!

Im going to stick it out. I want to be a MasterRanger. I dont care what anyone says..."ranger pfft, useless profession" im glad i can say im not a **edit** CH everyone and their grandma is a CH. And ill be a Master Ranger even just for the title. anyway...my Fencer skill keeps my in the pack hehe

Despite many attempts, I simply don't think it really reasonable to draw comparisons between EQ and SWG. They have a different mechanic. Although I completely agree about the sticking it out thing.

We do have a lot of CC, but so do scouts. Granted with our trapping skill going up, we have a better shot of landing the trap.

I do think we'll see some love soon. We're not as broke as other classes (go read the Commando board...), but we do seem to have a better community, and outlook on our class.

As for the everyones a *edit* CH... I find my ranger skills compliment my CH skills very well. I'm not looking to be Uber (got so sick of that in EQ/DaoC), I just want to have fun. Yeah, there are some jerk CH's who make us look bad, but don't put us all in the same basket. I hunt with 2 Cu-Pa's, never owned a Rancor, never wanted one. And I don't want to hijack the thread, so I'll stop now.

Both Enchanters and Rangers got some attention in EQ, granted no one needed to have a Ranger in a group once they got the attention, so I wouldn't hold your breath thinking that we'll become invaluable. I really hope they don't do that, as everyone will start making Rangers...

I probably should have been more clear. I'm not trying to make a direct comparison to EQ in the manner of saying we're enchanters. SWG is a different game. You are correct Mineras. My thought is that, Enchanters were neglected for a long time, and look what they became. My hope is that rangers might have something similar happen. As far as my reference to CH, an BH, with Druid and Necro, I was simply implying that the classes were "uber" and so everyone played one.

So if this thread does anything, I hope it lifts spirits a bit. Our day will come, and with Mineras doing the fine job he is doing, it will more likely be sooner rather than later.

Range/commando is the best combo I've seen. Grats hheheheheh

Exactly why I'm sticking with it.

I will be a Master Ranger in a few days, then I put him on ice for a while and go play my Medic/Entertainer on my other server.

Then when we are all polished up and meaningful again, I will be back!

BTW after I become Master, I will hang around for a while and give free teachings, so look for me.

(try to find someone who needs the app points first though, then look me up)
