It would be handy if Lantern Birds dropped Avian Meat instead of Herbivore Meat. I have yet to see a critter on Endor that drops Avian Meat, and what with Lantern Birds being, y'know, BIRDS and all, it would make sense if they dropped Avian Meat.
If you're wondering why this is a Ranger concern, high quality Avian Meat is in big demand. People on my server are paying 30cpu for average quality stuff. This is because it's so hard to get in bulk. There aren't many things on the starting planets that drop it in quantity. Corellia has Rasps (5-6 units per harvest), Carrion Spats (15-20 units per harvest), and Giant Carrion Spats (30-35 units per harvest), and that's it. And Giant Carrion Spats aren't particularly numerous. So it's hard to get a lot of Avian Meat from Corellia. Other starting planets have the same problem.
Lantern Birds are big enough that they'd have some decent quantities worth harvesting. And they're all over Endor. A good spawn of Avian Meat from these puppies would be worth quite a bit of cash to the purveyor of meat, hide, and bones AND it would be easy to get in bulk.
I recognize that this is a very minor request, and certainly isn't as important as other, more profound gameplay issues. So I don't expect it to get any priority. On the other hand, fixing it SHOULD be as easy as making a single change in a database somewhere on SOE's end. So maybe just mentioning it in the Correspondent's forum would work.

Actually there are quite a number of bizarre choices for resource drops through out the game.
- The Lantern Bird is definitely one of them.
I floated a question regarding the inconsistencies a while ago...
- They have not responded yet.

Volsted, go west-northwest of Kor Vella, (or just head towards leia's base) giant carrion spats spawn a lot around that area. I was using them in my initial TK phase for 40-50 meat and 1K unarmed exp.

Volsted,
Naboo is the KING of avian meat AND it's a starting planet. From the lowly nuna's (various types) that even a chef could beat to death with a whisk, through the kaadu's (again, various types) and the peko peko that are good hunting for novice combat types, all the way to the giant peko peko for the master elite professions, Naboo is THE place for an avian meat hunter who wants to line his pockets with doctor's credits.
If you can't find avian meat, you haven't been to Naboo. ![]()
