Thread: Request for help! Creature abilities!
I run www.swgcreatures.com and have found one area that my listings are greatly lacking! It's the area of creature special abilities that it seems only you talented Rangers get to see!
I will admit that the site is mostly geared towards creature handlers, but is there anything I could provide in the creature listings that would also encourage Rangers to use the site and help keep the creature information updated and accurate?
Would adding in harvest rates, loot tables or otherwise entice you to help keep the lists up to date?
Adding and updating creatures is very easy to do, and any help in filling in the gaps would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I can't really think of anything that would convince Rangers to devalue their skills by helping to create a massive database of Scout- or Ranger-only knowledge, so everyone can have it. The Creature Handlers believe that they should have the ability to see creature levels, and probably special attacks. I can understand why a database of this info would be great for CHs.
I'm not saying that NO-ONE would help you out in this way (heck, I'm sure my post will inspire some people to do so out of disagreement/spite/whatever), but it sounds like work to me. I already do a similar type of recordkeeping for the organic resource types that I harvest. But unlike harvest-tracking, there's no benefit here; I don't have any need to know what an animal's special attacks or CL is, since I can just examine the ones I'm about to kill 
I suppose it would be useful to have the types of organic resources dropped by each creature (your website may have that info, I'm not sure.) There are a couple planets that I don't visit often, so I don't necessarily know all the animals and resources they provide.
For Rangers, especially those that don't play often, a database of organic resources would be useful. I've seen one or two sites out there that track this info, and they are completely barren of up-to-date info. Again, there may be some site out there that is great for organic resource tracking, I don't know. I'd be surprised, though, since Rangers are somewhat in competition for thier livelihood, and that info is key to their business. Sharing it with everyone just makes it easier for others to hunt and lower prices. Maybe that's why few Rangers/Scouts have updated those sites I've seen...
Well, I'm not trying to be rude or unhelpful here. Most Rangers are helpful and friendly, I happen to be one that likes to be relevant and needed by other classes. In addition, I can't see any real benefit to myself for putting the work into something like this. I hadn't seen any responses to your post, so I figured I'd drop my thoughts down here. Heck, there's gotta be someone out there who loves CH so much that they'd advance in Ranger just to get this info and give it to everyone.
If I were less lazy, I'd considerproviding info for creatures with CL <10...that way, EVERYONE could use the info... And the world would be a better place.

Adding bone/hide/meat type (as in "avian bones" or "animal bones", not the current bone resource name on a particular planet) to the advanced search, along with planet that I see you have planned to add to the advanced searchwould get more scouts/rangers using the site. Once they are using it, they'd be more likely to check to make sure the data is accurate.

I do understand a reason (or lack thereof!) for not really caring to update most of this stuff from the ranger point of view, so definately no hard feelings if you don't wish or don't care to help update!
I had though about adding in the organic harvest information (meat/hide/bone)to the advanced search, and if rangers/scouts will find that useful, I will do so! I'll follow up with a bump to this post when I have that completed!
It's not my point to devalue or remove the dependance upon ranger/scouts, I just want to help everyone equally by having a repository of hopefully accurate and up to date knowledge pertaining to pets, as well as all creatures in general!

I would find it usefull when hunting for certain organics.. It would seem easier than searching the boards for which creatures produce which organics. Id update it also..

Want to know what creatures on Corellia drop Herbivore Meat and Leathery Hide? Just make the selections and viola, you'll find all creatures currently in the database that fit those requirements!
Register and log in to customize the information displayed on the creature listings. There are many choices, including planets, and organics.
Hope some of you find this useful and will entice you to help keep the data updated and current! Let me know of any suggestions or comments!

You are a god! I've been looking all day for a site like this, as I'm planning to go scaley hide hunting on Corellia tonight (Rangers on Naritus - scaley on Corellia is OQ 994 right now). Now I know which critters other than Corellian butterflies drop the stuff. Thanks a bunch!
