Thread: There is a major issue that keeps getting over looked for the rangers

Now I have been around for oh so long and have not posted anything for a long time. But I am tired of seeing something out here. The Creature handlers in PvP rule Starwars..... The ranger should be the anti creatue factor in this issue.

1) The To hit bonus in PvP for creatures should be much higher considering how some pets run up on you so fast and smite you before you can get a second shot off.

2) Traps should be able to work on Player pets and have longer effect.

3) And conceal should work in PvP, which simply means now that you do not show up on the radar and when you see the person the name dont show up over there head. No you don't have to worry about everyone being stealth in the galaxy. Simply make the master ranger capable of being stealth in PvP.

4) And bonuses to the ranger tree in PvP to make be coming a Master ranger more interesting. In this world where bh, commandos and CH rule, we need some different directions. Adding PvP combat componets to the ranger can help that.

5) Finally, traps should be thrown farther and there should be a different variety of them. I know that issue is already on the board but there is another issue to it. Traps should be able to to be thrown much quicker. Some times the delay why trying to snare a Rancor is crazy.

Please add these issues to the concern list. I am sure I will get the support on this.

1: Ya that would be nice, some extra PVP goodies
2: Agree
3: There are some good suggestions noted in the State of the Profession. but the devs basically said they wouldn't make any player class invisible.
4: agree
5: Two Thumbs Up agree

1) Agreed

2) Agreed

3) Instead of invisible, how about if conceal made us look like NPC's? Maybe throw a ragtag kook sign over our head (or what ever would apply to the planet you are on), make us a red or yellow dot on the radar (probably red to keep it balanced) and of course make us attackable. This could be implemented to work only during overt status or dueling. Boy would someone be surprised when a kook comes from nowhere with his T21 or LLC or Pistol blasting. Good or bad idea (keep in mind that we will never win the battle to get taken off the radar)?

4) Agree with JB

5) Agreed

"1) The To hit bonus in PvP for creatures should be much higher considering how some pets run up on you so fast and smite you before you can get a second shot off."

It would be nice to know if the To-Hit bonus actually works at all on CH Pets.

  • There is an item for this request on the list.

"2) Traps should be able to work on Player pets and have longer effect."

Agreed, already on the list.

"3) And conceal should work in PvP"

What the others have said.

"4) And bonuses to the ranger tree in PvP to make be coming a Master ranger more interesting."

Many good ideas in the list for just such a beast.

"Traps should be able to to be thrown much quicker."

Added.

ahhh thank you ..................

And just one note on ..... THere are rarely Week Creature handlers. They are usually people that tapped into the BH tree or commando tree or combat Medic Tree. But they hit up one bar of the CH tree and they can have a level 45 pet that will eat anyone and then add your massive combat from your main Profession.

I just think that the Ranger is the idea Profession to counteract The over Powered CH field.

1) add something like Crippling shot to pets or Deer in Headlights (LOL) where they just freeze.

2)Or Befriend animal. Make that pet not attack anyone and just sit there and purr or something.

3) You can replace Rescue with a Befriend animal or calm animal or something...........

4) In PvP

I think that putting traps on their own timer, probably tied to the trapping skill, would make a lot of sense. As a novice Rifleman I would get screwed because my trapping rate was determined by the speed with which I could fire my T21.

the "deer in headlights" (lol) idea... I'd rather see it as an improved warcry/intimidate ability only useable against creatures. We already have adhesive mesh traps & they work just fine (although they do need to increase the stack size. Only 2 just sucks, especially with the last trap ineffective bug).

1. The to hit bonus does not apply to pets, as I understand it. Should tho, I am tired of getting ate. Course I do tend to ignore the pets and nail the weak CHs behind them, as they seldom have any combat skills. Fact is, CHs get targeted a lot, think they would learn. And I love killing pets once the owner is down but not DB'd.

2. Agreed.

3. The Devs are nixing this one, no invisible people.

4. Doubt this will happen, but support it... we are "combat support" say the powers that are.

5. Agreed. I would be happy to have the ones we got work a lot better than they do, or don't as the case is with most of them.

i have theorized about this exate statement:

3) And conceal should work in PvP, which simply means now that you do not show up on the radar and when you see the person the name dont show up over there head. No you don't have to worry about everyone being stealth in the galaxy. Simply make the master ranger capable of being stealth in PvP.

But not just can't see them.. we are talking about rules here, like /conceal and u are prone u can't bee seen or targeted outside ot 30m. So it would ... technically.. an ability to /conceal and hit the dirt and poof .. your gone from visual and radar .... unless the player is physically close to u .. say 30m... this... would make a ranger rifleman combot even mroe deadly then ever.. AND MORE REALISTIC, in terms of 'sniping'

plus it would continue to make us .. . UNIQUE!!!

I agree with you on pretty much all of that. And pretty much all of it is in the ranger state of the profession. Check it out if you haven't already.

We for sure need to be able to use our traps against Pets, even if it means no exp. I have no problem with that, and wouldn't even when I needed the xp. There needs to be a balance for the CH. And I know the changes they are putting in for them will make some difference. But the master CH will be pretty much the same as it is now.

We NEED more traps for rangers, and there needs to be some to work on NPC.

I don't think we will ever get conceal to work agains PC, but it's a nice dream. Personally I would be very happy with the above 2 changes.

Oh One more thing..............

You can not have an offense with out a good defense........ Master Rifleman and and Each level tree of the Ranger should be able to detect Concealed Rangers in PvP .......... Simply put . Novicer ranger can detect conceal at hmmmmmmmmmmm 20 m . And go up 10 meters each tree. And Master Rifleman can Detect conceal with either a new command (scope!! sounds cool) or just at master............
