Thread: Is areatrack's range really 500m?
I have tracking 1. I was testing it out in the krayt graveyard area with a friend. we split up and wandered about.
He notified me that he had spotted an lair and seen one or two dragons pop out. I waypointed the coordinates and ran towards him. When I got under 500m, I tried an /areatrack. The krayts did not show up. I tried at 400m, nothing. I tried at 300m, nothing. It wasn't until I was under 200m from the waypoint that the krayts actually showed up on the list of animals. By that time, I was about 20m from them showing up on my radar.
What's up with that?
To my knowledge yes, 500m is correct.
Although I have seen bugs with it regarding how the "objects" load in game for each person.
Ever notice sometimes you go to say... a shop you know is always there, but sometimes you have to get right up on it for it to "generate" in front of you...has to do with that IMO.
Now note, in this case a friend of mine WAS ALREADY THERE and was LOOKING AT the krayt dragons.
Just to be clear. ![]()
Yes, generally it is 500m. But I have found it to be buggy sometimes. I have had stuff on radar not show up in track. (ie. you see a nest of a dozen spiders, so you track instead of target each one from 80m to see if there is a baby, and none of them show up at all.)
(I have tracking 4, so its not an issue with me not having the range to see 80m.. I regularly get 400+ stuff)
tracking only works once the creatures / npc's have spawned
nothing more fun than scanning for graul maulers and finding nothing and then walking 10 m and them spawning on you
