So how come we can't throw traps when mounted. Sure it makes sense you can't do TKA specials on a mount but you telling me a fully trained ranger can't throw a trap from the back of kaadu?

On that note, why can't we shoot pistols and rifles from mounts. We know how to do it right? Been doing it since the old west days.

My thinking behind the reasoning is that it create too much of an advantage when dealing with npcs and creatures as far as mobility an stuff.

Actually, Aebous, in an article with one of the devs, they purposely made it so you can barely do anything from the back of a mount. It was just easier to code that way. The devs report that as time goes on they will look at each individual action in the game and decide whether it can be done from the back of a mount. I'm sure things like trapping, maskscent and areatrack will be coded in sooner or later.

And you would be correct in that thinking.

You can still shoot a rifle or pistol while mounted...

  • You just can not use any of the special moves associated with those weapons.

The developers are deathly concerned about players being able to kite the game while on mounts, and therefore restricted combat to the default attack while riding.
