Hi,

I am just about to get enough Xp for my first skill in ranger. But I am not sure what to get first, Shall I get wayfaring to I can you camo?(Does this give me more Xp then mask scent) or shall I get tracking So I can tell which direction then creatures are that I want to skin alive?. Which gives me the most Xp so I can get the other one - If you understand me!!!!

Unless you are really having a tough time with aggro NPC's, I suggest going up to at least Track 3 before doing anything in wayfaring. Not just for the tracking skill which can be quite cool... but for the creature-to-hit bonuses you get as well.

If your gaming style is getting you smacked around by Tusken Raiders and Thugs all the time, then I suggest getting a bit of camo first.

NO brainer ....

tracking....

Wayfaring is mostly if not completely useless...you arent any faster than a master scout except at crawl speed.

Wayfair is the last skill I got for Master Ranger. Tracking is much more useful.

Tracking to me is much more useful. Helps to hunt creatures especially when doing the Explorer missions. It would only make sense to hunt creatures as Tuskens and Thugs don't give an Scouting XP.

I went up the Tracking path because, as a Ranger, many hunting parties wanted me along to track down Krayt dragons for them.

Wayfaring has its advantages, too, but the Camo skill has to be used wisely. Camo will give you Mask Scent-like XP for successfully passing aggro creatures as well as aggro NPCs. However, if you check your Camo and Mask Scent bonuses, you'll notice that your Mask Scent bonus is significantly higher (thus more effective) than your fledgling Camo bonus. Camo will break more often and Camo costs resources, where Mask Scent does not.

I use Mask Scent 90% of the time because I can confidently approach aggro lairs for eggs or run through an aggro herd that's in my path. If I come across aggro NPCs, I can usually swing around them or, if not, there's always Burst Run (assuming I'm out-gunned or in a hurry to get somewhere).

If I'm on a mission to hunt down NPCs, then I'll use Camo to get within range and I'll pick up some XP while doing it, too.

To be honest, I haven't used Camo since the last patch allowed one to keep their Mask Scent on during and after combat so I don't know first hand if Camo also sticks.

There is also a problem with conceal in that if you have highly negative faction with a group, those NPCs will still aggro you. Apparently they make a faction check before the one for being an aggressive, thus negating the conceal.

If you haven't destroyed your faction with a group, conceal will continue to work. (Maybe with highly positive faction, too, but there aren't a lot of aggressives I'm on good terms with to test this with.)

The wayfaring line is definately the way to go. Using camo on dathomir will give you a LOT of scout xp (whereas tracking gives you NONE), and you can also use them on others (you get xp everytime they evade a creatures detection). So if you want to get xp faster, do wayfaring first, if you are with a large group on dath, you will get LOADS of xp by putting camo on them and keeping it going (lesse rancors give 189 scout xp everytime you evade ones detection, multiply that by 8 party members... you get the idea)

but then again i forgot to mention that dath kits are only craftable by master rangers, so you will have to find a master ranger to sell you some (well worth it), BUT an alternative is the squill caves on tattooine, theres usually a large group heading out there and you get about 160ish xp for each one (and they cant attack you when you fail because they are usually on the other side of a wall from you).
