Thread: How can I macro throwing a trap then attacking
Until they add a /throwtrap command, there's no graceful way to do it. You COULD put the traps on a secondary bar, then make a macro that switches to that bar, nails all the traps and switches back to the main...wait a minute, that's a pretty good idea, maybe I'll do it! =)
What I did was put all my traps in a pack, then add the pack to my bar (F8, but it doesn't matter) so I can pop it open, fling a few traps, and then hit my attack keys.
I never click the toolbar at all.I load it up with traps and hit my FKeys
When you throw a trap, it puts you in combat mode automatically. So have your weapon equipped, have your toolbar slots filled with traps, hit the appropriate Fkey and you're fighting.
You could also have your traps on pane #2 and your weapon specials on #1. You could set a macro like this
- (choose target and get within range for trap throwing)
- /ui action toolbarPane 1 (page 2)
- /ui action toolbarSlot## (whatever number trap you want to throw)
- /ui action toolbarPane 0 (page 1)
- /ui action toolbarSlot## (whatever special move you like to open with)
Hope that helps.
I was overjoyed the day I found it.
After trapping everything in sight that day, I logged off a happy man.
The next day it was gone.
If every other profession can macro commands, why can't we simply use throwtrap in a maco.
Hell, to get CH or any marksman profession you don't even need to be at your machine.
"There used to be a /throwTrap command."
Woah... When did that command pop its head out of the woodwork?
The command probably made an accidental appearance and was pulled back out...
- But I do like the thought that there may be something like that in the works.

the command has been on the list for ages so I assumed it would work right off the bat.
the fact that it didn't i attributed to a bad macro, since I was just playing around with them at the time. Then suddenly it worked. I typed it in at the command line and it worked there too. I was filled with evil glee.
Then it was gone again.
Bastards.
My experience with /throwtrap is that it exists, but you must use the bare command - i.e. /throwtrap rather than /throwtrap adhesive mesh. Over the summer, it would basically just throw a random trap from the inventory at the enemy. Last time I used the cammand (prepatch, so it may have changed since then) it showed up in the combat queue, but it was skipped and I just went on to the next attack. It could be that the devsadded it originally, then partially removed it.
