Thread: What is the status of the Lok Camo kit?
Ya know, that bit about the type of meat that doesn't exist? Would be handy for hiding from all those Mercs and Pirates.

My understanding is that the meat actually DOES exist...
...but you take a faction hit with Nym when you kill the critter that drops it.
Kinda like the Gungan Falumpasets on Naboo. I killed one the other day with conceal shot, thinking that I wouldn't take a faction hit if I didn't aggro the Gungans. But nope, the mere act of killing the critter got me -200 Gungan faction.
I've been to Lok recently, the meat we "thought" was domesticated, as you cite, is the Nym Domesicated Gurrak... which had wild meat... or something as silly...
Been ALL OVER Lok now, solo and in groups and not see it yet. Mind you, I did not get all that close to the snakes. I hate snakes...
"My understanding is that the meat actually DOES exist"
Well...
Most cited "domesticated" animals on Lok seem to drop either herbivore meat or wild meat (as Fred_Skinner stated).
- There may indeed be a "domesticated" animal on Lok that actually drops domesticated meat, but it is so rare as to make the camo kit rather unworkable.

Ya know, what they SHOULD have done was make ingrediant #...
- any hide from kit's planet
- any bone from kit's planet
- any meat from kit's planet
- any plant from kit's planet
Don't see that as being all that hard or unbalancing. Did they think it was (and therefore the more specific types)?
"Don't see that as being all that hard or unbalancing. Did they think it was (and therefore the more specific types)?"
Actually, you may recall we asked for that exact same thing awhile ago...
- Their response was that the game system, as it is currently designed, can not handle the approach you described.
It is not that the developersdid thought it was a bad idea...
- Rather, it was the fact thatdoing sowould have required rewriting much of the underlying framework, and that would have taken far toolong for such a minor gain.

So the actual order of resources is something on the order of
Meat -> Avian -> Corellia
rather than
Corellia -> Meat -> Avian?
I guess that makes sense, but I still can't understand why they don't switch domesticated for something else in the schematic, even if temporarily. If that coding change (which should be a database entry or two) impacts multiple systems, they have really messed up code.

I have no idea either. ![]()
Heck, if you are gonna make it so that camo kits can use any meat, hide, bones from any planet, then there is no uniqueness to each kit other than the planet it is used on. Big whoop that a Master Ranger can make Dathomir kits - everyone else can use them.
I'd rather just get rid of camo kits all together and make /conceallike /maskscent where you don't need anything. Then Rangers just get increased range/effectiveness as you go up the tree. As far as I'm concerned, Scouts should have had the harder to use system and Rangers should have been easier to use! After all, Rangers are the "elite" scouts so to say.
This would have been much easier to implement and would have complimented the /maskscent.
Zkull, it was never said that the kits should use any resource from ANY PLANET. What WAS said was that the kits should use any hide/meat/bone from that SPECIFIC planet. There'sa huge difference. The kits are still unique in that they require, for example, all Endorian resources. But now you don't have to go on a wild goose hunt to find the specific TYPE of hide/meat/bone on that planet.
Ack!!! I did misread that!!! Sorry about that and disregard my previous rant!!!

Hmmm... It doth appearour posts have been misread. ![]()
