Thread: /areatrack question...
Right now I have Tracking I in the Ranger tree (and tracking II ready to be trained).
My radius for finding creatures is currently 256m. Does this number jump as I go higher in the tree? I'm looking to go as far as Tracking III... will I get a 512m radius for creatures when I hit that mark?
Thanks for the help!
From what I recall, the tracking radius should be 500m. It dosen't go up or down as you progress in the tracking tree.
It's possible that your hitting the display cap (50 objects) at 256m. I think it starts close to you and circles out. Have you tried it in sparsely populated areas?
I went out to Dathomir and surveyed at the Trade Outpost.
I looked at my list and had a Binary Load lifter in the list of "animals". I kept moving away until I didn't see it anymore in my area track. Then I set a waypoint and went back to the trade outpost where this load lifter was. The waypoint was approximately 250ish away... so I'm guessing a power of 2 and saying 256.
The *diameter* is 512m... but from what i've tested on my own... its radius is 256 for me...
Am I missing something?
hmmm....
I just logged on and did an areatrack and the furthest out for me was 496m. I guess it is possible that the radius scales with experience, but I don't remember being limited to 256m when I was lower in the Ranger tree. Perhaps other Rangers with a better memory than mine could be able to answer that one ![]()
I do know that it is capped ata 500m radiusfor the time being. Hopefully it will expand in time, but I don't know if or when that would happen.
It at least used to be 500m for everyone. I wrote a small guide sometime back to /areatrack that you might want to have a look at. Check http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=ranger&message.id=21795.
