Aye, we've been tracking it for the past week as I've got friends in FL and along towards New Orleans.

YeahI have a friend who works at the Fox down there. She and I were in school together. I know as meteorologists we have a job to do but dang... our lives are at risk as well. I hope she makes it out safely. This is not going to be pretty. If you know anyone who hasn't left yet, make sure they get out. I can't stress that enough. Normally we look for the eye to Wobble a bit as a sign of weakening. It hasn't. Looking at the latest model data, I'm amazed how consistent it still is, and it makes sense meteorologically as well. Usually the models have issues with steering these monsters but they seem to be doing well this time which is unfortunate.
Get out while you can and I hope to see you all back real soon.

Gledako is in South Florida but it seems the worst of the storm has passed there now. After this news though I'm still worried about him.

My godparents live in New Orleans. It's gonna get slammed really bad I was watching Fox News and they had some scary predictions: 50% of the buildings in the city will experience roof and wall failure,tall buildingswill sway dangerously to the point of collapse in some cases and all glass windows will be blown out, the winds will kill anyone outside, light vehicles and flying debris will cause significantly additional damage, the city will be under 20-30 feet of water, all wooden apartments will most likely be destroyed 100%...

Hopefully, the loss of life will be nil or low, with seven people alreadydeceased in Florida. I don't even want to think of the damage and costs, it's gonna be disastrous beyond our imagination. Luckily, my godparents made it out around 3am this morning when the roads weren't crazy. Let's hope it turns out ok down there.
