Thread: Explorer Mission Terminals: Purpose?

Since I've been playing SWG (2+ years), I have only used the Explorer Mission Terms about twice. I believe that's 2 too many. The first I had no idea what it was so I decided to find out (when I was actually motivated to be a Master Scout/Ranger). The second time (about a year later) I had forgotten the waste of time it actually is compared to doing group work at the Mining Outpost on Dantooine.

If the terms had better pay out and were much less travel-intensive, I might consider... if I was extremely bored out of my gourd of slaughtering bols to the point of extinction... to at least try and complete one. Hunting quest missions such as finding a Gorax and other such rarities would be a great substitute with equal as much loot or superb resource collection.

Anyone feel the same way I do or do yall just happen to ignore it as does the rest of the galaxy?

The explorer terms were created with a good premise behind them. Grab some missions, go out into the wild, hunt a lot of creatures and return to get paid. They were to be a Rangers paradise so to speak. But the planet wild spawns haven't work right since player cities and have continued to dwindle from there. It would be nice to have a planet that only has wild spawns and no player structures except camps.

Right now they serve no purpose at all, except maybe to mock us. I'd love to see them turned into Ranger-only bounty mission type terminals for big game.

I have pushed the change of these terminals for a while. In my mind, there should be low-level missions like there are now, that require exploration (ex: find a heard of creature X) and have a special feature for Rangers which was Big Game hunting. My proposal is part of the Outdoorsman 2.0 proposal, if you want to read it.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

if you're collecting resources of a specific type for your own use you could use the explorer terms to get some money on the side as well as your resources.

however you get much moreresources as well as money if you can find the creatures you want on regular terms

so... worthless

Before JTL, and after vehicles, they had one purpose. I nice way of making a living for non-combat templates. The explore mission could be completed on a swoop or speeder bike with relatively low risk of combat, and a fast get away is something did Argo. However now a days more credit can be made in space.
