I placed a house in what was once a remote location in the Jundland Wastes of Tatooine but now a player city has formed nearby including my house within thier city borders. I just got a gmail saying that I may be taxed for using the city's land. Eventually I will relocate my home elsewhere, but in the mean time I am too busy taking pilot missions to make that move right now but I don't want to pay no freakin' taxes. Has anyone else run into this problem? If so, what was your solution?

I thought you had to officialy join the city to get taxed.... sorry to hear this. That's why I keep my house where no one will ever find it.... Under a rock.

Not much you can do. You might have been there first but so were the Native Americans. You can have a chat with the mayor (you can declare residence and then check the voting term to see who the mayor is) but you will probably need to choose between moving out and joining the city. Although you probably won't get taxed all that much.

i don't think you even need to declare, just go to the city manegment terminal and look at the different options there, it should list the mayor and the militia members.

I suppose with the upcoming changes you can try to pick up novice politician, register for the election, and if you somehow manage to win, delete the city. You might have a few people mad at you though. Also I think taxes come from your bank account, so if you move all of your credits to your inv. then you might not have to pay any taxes.

I actually have been considering both ideas.

Taxes max out at 2k per week so hardly an issue.

This happened to me a long time ago, about 3 weeks after player cities went live. I had a house with no other houses in sight 600m from wayfar and 600m from jabbas palace (closest spot you can get). I stopped playing on that server for about a month or so to work on one of my other characters and when I log back in finally I step out of my door and I'm now in this city. Reminded me of some areas of chicago lol. About 3 months later the city had all but disappeared on its own. I WIN!! Take that, ever expanding civilization.

a player city formed around my house 3 months ago.
I got a polite email from the mayor asking me to join the city, I politely declined.
My house and the city are both still there and I have never been charged taxes.

Here is what the email I received said:

Welcome to Tranquility Oasis!

Your small general house was built within the borders of our fine city. In

exchange for using the citiy's land and local civic services, you may be charged

property taxes. Please check the current tax rate at the City Hall.

We thank you for joining Tranquility Oasis.

Mayor Belisama Lotham

My house was not built within the borders or thier "fine" city but they built thier city around me.
