A little story about a lizard named Ickpon;
Ickpon entered the SWG galaxies shortly after release in Juneish 2003. He selected his toon to be as a scale-faced Transdoshan and felt with his mighty claws going Pistoleer/TKA would be a great combination. As he progressed through the game he decided to take on some Scout skills so he could climb hills faster, he quickly started experimenting with traps and felt the lure of being a Master Scout.
He is where our little lizard friend made a bold decision. He decided to forgo being a true Pistoleer and become a "Ranger". As Ickpon grew stronger in the ranger skills he was also growing more adept at TKA and as he ascended up the ranks a startling thought crossed his mind:
"I don't have enough skills points to keep my pistol 4 in the marksman tree if I go Master TKA/Master Ranger!"
What to do, what to do? Well our intrepid adventurer decided to keep going along his Master TKA/Master Ranger path figuring the decision would be easier once he made it to the highest thresholds of his chosen skills.
Our beloved friend Ickpon has made it to this threshold and now is at a crossroads does he:
1) Master TKA and Learn Novice Pistoleer, leaving Ranger at 4/0/4/3? (This wastes 0 SP's)
2) Master TKA and stay at Marksman 0/4/0/0, leaving Ranger at 4/0/4/3? (This wastes 4 SP's)
3) Master TKA and Ranger, sacrificing pistols skills and being marksman 0/1/0/0? (This wastes 1 SP)
4) Master TKA and Ranger, sacrificing any ranged skills and select say novice medic or something? (This wastes 1 SP)
I am considering going with option 1, for several reasons. First of which is I waste no skill points here. Secondly I get health shot II with Novice Pistoleer which Is a nice ranged attack. I can camouflage, get in range and health shot II the mob. Then pull out of range and wait for one mob to aggro, it is a great way to "pull". Also, by not mastering Ranger I only lose one true skill which is the Dathomir camo kits. I hardly EVER use a camp kit anyway and think at this point they are a waste.
Having the marksman pistol skill up to 4 is great because it gives health shot which cannot be beat. I am also considering doing option 3 or 4, but the aforementioned scares me away.
Any helps comments would be appreciated.
Thanks,
The "Ick"

Is option 2 correct or did you mean to say Ranger 4044?
If you are going between option 1 and 2 I would say go with 1. It sounds like you have a hunting strategy down that you enjoy and enjoying is what is important. I think you may have more luck having health shot rather than the last trapping box. Plus there is the lure of the perfect 0 points wasted template. I have one of those myself and it is silly, but satisfying lol.

Option 2 should have been Ranger 4/0/4/4 wasting 4 points
The perfect 0 template is alluring.
Right now I am leaning towards 1 or 2, more likely 1, but I wanted to get the opinion of some other rangers, because I really wanted to be able to say I was a Master Ranger.

I say you don't go master ranger UNLESS you really want to be one. Camping is by far the most tedious and the most time-consuming of the trees, and if you don't want to be a master then definitely skip it.
Do what you enjoy.

No, no you shouldn't. Unless you really really want the Master Ranger tag.
I'd go with option 1.
The last box in trapping wont help you. You've got all the traps, enjoy them on low-end creatures. They are fun when they work and you wont get yourself killed using them. The last box wont help you trap the big stuff anyway.
The only thing you're missing out on with option 1 is the "Uuuhhh" and "Ahhhh" when you put up a HTFB, the ranged and melee defenses and the the Dathomir camo kit, oh and of course the Master Ranger tag. Master Ranger and then drop it, you'll have it in your bio
It's surely not worth dropping something that you really enjoy.
If you master Ranger and drop something else, you'll be constantly wrestling with yourself if it's worth the SP investment. Most of us do.
Me, I'm going to drop down to Novice Ranger, maybe even Master Scout. Pick up TK Meditation and switch from Carbineer to Rifleman. I think that'll actually make me feel more like a Ranger than being a "Master Ranger".

You need to do what you enjoy and prefer. But I think you should consider making Master Ranger even if you dont decide to keep it so you can experience first hand what works and does not from the complete profession. Even though the HTFB really does nothing special anymore since droids can be pulled out anywhere and droids allow med use and crfating there is something special the first few times you pull out a HTFB for yourself and perhaps you friends. The first time I dropped on on Dath while my friends and I were preparing our first hunt as a group there it forced us to sit down and just chat a while. Something we dont do often enough anymore. After you play around with Master Ranger a while then decide whether to drop it or not.

All good points both for and against.
I just hate losing the bleed ability that the Pistol Skill gives me. If we had a trap that caused a bleed or a poison then it would be would be ok. We just have status affect traps, which are nice, but not all that effective.
I really wanted Master Ranger to camo on Dathomir and just run around. One of my favorite things of being a ranger is to just throw on the camo and roam.

I say master Ranger and then decide if you want to drop it. That only leaves room for mastering one elite combat profession, with novice medic, but you have 3 sp left over and can use them for FS skills.
I'm master ranger, master rifles, novice medic, and have +10 FS melee defense.. (working on the +15 which will bring me to 0 SP left over).
A couple of comments:
You didn't mention using any SP for medic. Those 15 SP are a good investment, and with some nice BE wound/injury treatment clothes you can heal a good amount of damage with strong Stim B's.
Also, if you want camo on dath or anywhere, just get the /conceal ability. You can't craft it yourself, but you can still use it. Granted, it will break often, but again BE clothing will help a bit.
