Thread: Problem with Traps

Hello,

I searched the board but did not find an answer to my questions...

I am a Ranger 2-x-1-x and have trouble getting trapping xp.

Normally I do squill hunts on Tattoine and some traps seem to work against squills. Mountain squills seem to be unaffected by my traps most of the time. Only one out of ten times I´ll get trapping xp. Tried all traps that I can use.

Someone said to me that the HAM of of the squills is too high to be affected by the traps. Is that correct? Or is my trapping skill too low? So if Mountain squills are not affectable by traps which creatures I should target to get xp?

Thanks for solution and / or clarification.

Squill are only level 25 or lower, as I can get missions for them off the terms. They should be affected by traps, although to be honest, I never tried trapping them before I made Master.

Try going to Endor and tossing traps there. If you have mastered any combat profession, you will get more XP per hour and a better harvest. Use a droid or pet to tank for you. Crazed Gurrecks are fun, 3k weapons, 400 or so xp per trap (I think), about 100 meat per cat. If you are not a weapons master, don't go, you will be eaten. Avoid spiders and mantigues, they poison. Lantern Birds, bordocks, blurrgs are all good. Bluurgs do not DB.

A second alternative. POI on Talus, Lost City. Spawns Greater Sludge Panthers. Balcony, NE corner of town. Stand on it, toss traps til your arms fall off from tossing. The cats can't get you. Regardless of weapons class, this is a good spot for leveling up. Bad news is that it is often camped. Once your traps are gone, harvest time.

Hope that helped

The lost city on Talus is always a good choice and at one time the Ewok Tree Village SE from the Smugglers Outpost was another good spot for xp grinding as you could stand up on the upper levels of the walkways and shoot at stuff on the ground; however, shooting at SBD's could get you killed.

The best xp I've found so far for trapping comes from Grassland Voritor Lizards. These guys are around 12k on ham, decent resists, and don't DB if I recall correctly. Each trap you use will give you around 853 points of xp per hit and you can cycle out traps. Using a high kinetic grind composite (last longer than ubese) and equipping a weapon from a class you're unqualified for (i.e. go unarmed if you have don't have novice brawler) so you do minimal damage, you can grind out all 4 boxes in about 90 minutes and use the same lizard after each training session. Interestingly enough the lower scout traps work the best with almost a 100% hit rate with the higher traps falling around 60%. Have around 10 traps of each type of trap in your inventory (if possible) then toss each trap one right after the other. Reapply the traps every 25 seconds so that they don't overlap when tossing.

Kill the rancor, go get trained and head back for another round. Did all of my trapping in under an hour. Fun stuff.

Can agree here, recently needed to finish my last box in traps had 40-60xp to go, was out in Dath hunting the herb spawn, and between missions would track down a Rancor and throw traps until my arms fell off - TA DAH!!! 1hr or so later finished traps IV.

Was getting 1500xp per trap, throwing Wiremesh traps & P Darts!

This was similar to my method. The only difference is that I had a Master TKM tanking the rancors while I stood back and tossed traps. I had him use no weapons or combat abilities...just hold out, heal yourself and tank 'till I run out of traps.
