I'm master sword and rifle, should i drop one to go ranger? is it worth it? which one should i drop?

Should you go ranger? That depends... what do you want to get out of it?
If you master, you'll only have enough SP for an elite combat profession, plus 18sp left over (novice med and 3 FS skills). As for which one you should keep, that depends on how you prefer to kill stuff. Swords and Rifles are equally effective.

Yea, Ranger is not by any means a profession to take if you're looking to design an uber template. It's mostly geared towards throwing traps and harvesting and sneaking around. Right now, Ranger has nothing that will help in PvP as it should be. So if you're not into being a woodsman/hunter and living a pretty simple life away from civilization, I'd say don't even waste your time on Ranger. Ranger will have very little benefit in a template, and the only way you'll get by as a Ranger is by using your brain.

Really it depends on your type of gme play.
With ranger, you will be spending LOTS of time in the woods, killing animals, or looking for animals, and harvesting.
You only get one elite combat prof, so choose the one you like the best.
I choose rifle, because well really who goes out hunting deer or moose witha sword or pistol??? plus i prefer to keep a large gap between me and my prey.
