I was on Talus the other night and about 95% of the times I used area track, I'd get the "you have determined nothing..." notice. Problem is, there were quite a few times after I got this message that I'd stumble on a lair only ten seconds later, not 100+ meters away from where I searched.
Is this common or could this be a bug?

I would call it a common bug...
. A few patches ago, they made it so that spawns wouldn't 'exist' until you were in radar range (I generalize radar range as 128m).
Can anyone confirm that they ARE NOT seeing thi problem (i.e. tracking works like normal for them)?

Last night what I was trackingshowed up on my rader as being only 120m east. after walking a short 120m my creature was not there. After walking back to where I was as few times. I headed northeast then southeast. We came across them after doing this 3 or 4 times. I just was thinking that I was having a problem with Yavin 4.

Couple of things -
Areatrack can't see what is not there yet. Drive thru an area and then /ar your backtrack and see what you scared up.
Areatrack is approximate. Says north, can be anywhere between NW and NE. Always do it twice and go slow. Nothing like seeing the GDK is "East 400M" and you zoom into your death at 350m. Critters move.
Areatrack has a hole in it at 100m or so. It's been reported.

Is that the immediate 100m hole with you in the center of it? If that's the case, that area should be covered by the radar at 128m. However, this happens at least 200+ meters out, and if the AT range is close to 400m then this is completely worthless for trying to track what's in front of you.
Granted, I'm still at novice Ranger and might not have unlocked anything more than "animal in the area" so...
