Thread: An Intro and a Story

Hello all, I've been hanging around the boards for a while, posting the occasional comment here and there but I've never taken the time to say "Hi". So, um, Hi! My name is Reybekk, Master Ranger on Naritus. I've been playing SWG since Apr 2004, and climbing the Ranger tree since June/July.
Now on to the story, in which Reybekk sees one of the coolest things he had ever seen in the game immediately followed by one of the most 'exciting' things he had ever seen...
About a month or so ago, there was a pretty good spawn of Naboo Herb meat and my BE customer had requested as much as I could carry as quickly as I could. Knowing that Bolle Bols spawn regularly in the NW corner of the map I flew into the player city of Thorn Beach to begin my search.
Those of you that have visited this metropolis may have noticed that building has continued beyond the borders of the city, extending it even further than the normal city limits. The result of this suburban sprawl are spawns that show up in the middle of the plazas and streets naturally formed by the buildings. It makes for a very interesting navigation challenge when you are in a hurry.
Following an area track I found what looked like the Great Bolle Bol Meet (one of those bugged spawns I assume) with roughly 30 targets trotting around on their stubby legs. With visions of monkey dancing in my head, I started picking them off one by one. I had worked through about 10 of them when I heard the whir of a vehicle approching. "Great", I thought, "I hope that biker doesn't spook the herd too badly". I had no idea...
The whirring got louder as an imperial shuttle dropped out of the sky and began to disgorge troopers before my astonished eyes. The herd did not spook, and I continued to watch the squad as the shuttle lifted off again. The squad formed up and began marching towards me, when my rifle went into autofire mode (I had been in the middle of hitting a Bol's mind pool). As one, the stormtroopers executed an about face and opened up on my target. This caused the 20-odd Bolle Bols to agro - everyone. Me.
I briefly considered tossing traps but the 6 Bols charging me changed my mind to RUN!!! I jumped up and started running through the streets, the sounds of a massive battle behind me. Burst run got me out of immediate danger, but I still had 4 of the beasties trailing me. Then I saw it in an almost dead end street - a Peko spawn. I ran straight towards them, leading the Bols all the way. The Pekos aggroed the Bols and I was able to slip down a narrow gap between the houses.
I circled back to the plaza where the Bols had spawned but there were only about five left (no troopers :smileyvery-happy
. Although I was pleased with how I had evaded a severe pounding, I was a bit wistful as I finished off the remaining Bols. All that monkey, lost.

Very nice read. I'm not familiar with that town or your server, but it sounds like a fun time.

Hi Temujin! Someday our paths will cross on Naritus. Of all the Rangers I've come across (esp. lately) I've never seen you or Lira "in person" which is kind of funny since y'all (and cryos) are the more active Naritusians on the forums.

one day soon, this new breath of life in the Naritus ranger community (the 5 of us
) will get a big a$$ elite ranger hunting party together or something. A sorta "get to know each other" event while kicking the $%&@ out of a gorax or something.

if we can -find- the gorax.
of course, al's been taking a lot of jedi orders lately, so maybe one of these days while he's looking for the blurrg raptor, he'll find the gorax for us as well.

I had the exact same thing happen to me about 2 weeks back! I thought I'd seen most all there was to see in this universe but I just stood in amazement as a shuttle disgorged a whole stack of storm commandos right next to me.
After I got over my shock I figured I should offer them some Imperial Ranger hospitality so I pitched a HTFB where they were all stood much to the amusement of the BE I was with who took the chance to craft off some mutant critters with a strong group of bodyguards.
The pay off came when some dozy comp'd up BH wandered into the camp (no doubt drawn by its enormous beauty) and uttered the words "Jeez m8 how u get so mny pet troupers?" (sic)
I was laughing too hard to type him a response!
