Thread: Think like a ranger...
Doing the ARC-170 quests yesterday and I ran into a wee problem. You need to be a rebel combatant to speak to the Queen in Theed, but the place is hopping with Imperial troops. Now, I COULD fight my way in, or just try running their lines and hoping for the best but, meh...
Just then Old Ben Kenobi, the demented hermit of Tat, chirped up in my head. "Feel the power of the camo. Think like a ranger, young Ken.."
So, quick run out into the, ahem, wilderness, around town and kill the critters to craft a camo pack, conceal myself, back into town and Presto Change-o, one invisible to Imps Ranger.
(OK, so one of them finally aggroed on me but I darn nearly walked over him)
Back up on sunny Kashyyyyyyyyk I had to go speak to some idjit wookiee called Drrrlllmmmm or somesuch. You can't help but have seen him and his several dozen clones hanging around the pathway out of Kachiro like some teddy bear convention gone wrong. But.. which one?? They all look the same... Hang on, that ones waving, hurrah...he found me and now wants me to walk him back to town. Excpet, unlike the regualr 'go speak to my lost buddy and give him this huge bag of credits that he left in the cantina' type missions, you've got to stay with this one ALL the way back to town...
It's only 150m I hear you say.. tis but a hop, skip and ajump back to town, what's your problem? Well, the problem is this, Dear Reader, Drrrllllmmmmmm walks slower than my old grandma with her rheumatics, arthritics, colostomy bag and 'old lady problems'.
Get more than a few metres in front of bubba and you're given a sysmsg that you're too far away. I tell you, after failing twice and having to go back to speak to Queenie, I was beginning to think that this idea about wookiees being at one with their environment was a bucket of old fish. This wookiee has serious seperation and anxiety issues...
But again, there's old Ben in my head..... "Have pity on the old wookiee" he said "he's been through a lot, what with the tests and the probes and you'd be walking slow if you saw ***edited for a 13 audience***. Travel at his pace, young Ken. Think...slow..."
Well, I'd tried walking, so I reckoned that the next step down would have to be hitting the dirt and crawling.... I set my pet droid to follow the wookiee, jic I lost him and he wandered back into the clone mob, and I ate grass. With a rifle equipped and crawling, a ranger goes at JUST the right speed to get back to the gates of Kachiro without outpacing the wookiee...
Only problem I had was with the two yahoos who kept asking if I'd lost a contact lense then rolling around onthe floor laughing. Muppets. remember, /addignore cures all sorts of headaches.
And FINALLY... up to the Imp Prison on Dath via a recruiter to take a few hours much needed leave. Bit of maskscent, cos I left my crate of camo at home and couldn't be chuffed going back for it, one quick bike ride across the wastes, quick tour of the facilities and then walk the wookiees out the front gate of the prison.... These ones at least walk at a normal pace, so yippee me.
Oh, and I got my bolotaur mount out of the geo cave too. Bit of camo, bit of a burst run, bit of a resurection, and ooh look, new lizard in my invent.
Not a bad evenings work, if I do say so myself.

Simply Awesome!!! Especially the part about the "muppets" lol. I miss being a ranger. ![]()
Huh, camo wasn't that successful for me.
A single Sathog, or whatever it's name is, on Kashyyyk broke my firstcamo kit and attacked me in the same move. Same with everything else I tried.
Especially the Webweavers.
Any advice on how to make camo more beneficial than your CL in this new AI system? It's all Shiriwook to me.
Great job!
Camo has been working really well for me. Last night, i was doing the Etyyy trail hunting quests. I had to find 12 poached items taht are located in little crates.
I walked up and knew that i would really have to fight my way through these guys, and if i did, i would die. So i put on some camo, and walked around calmly and completed the mission. On the way, i passed a few people that were doing the same thing and getting whomped.
One of them asked me why im not getting agro... I told him about camo, and sold him a pack. he was so impressed that he did the quest and not a single npc broke it.
One of the things about the CU that i have really been liking is the fact that after such a long time, i am using traps, camo, and all the ranger things that were useless pre CU.
did the same for the ARC quest, and the Bolotaur quest... now all i gotta do is figure out a name.
