Thread: Tips and Tricks for Guiding Customers Through the Hero of Tatooine Quest?

First off, I wouldn't suggest you take other people's money for this unless you've done the quest and are familiar with both it and the guides for this quest.

Once you know what you're doing, go ahead.

Personally though, I avoid this one. People get mad when you can't find spawns like the farmer, who can be extremely difficult to find.

If you are going to do it though, I suggest you charge by the hour. I started off chargin 50k per hour and as I got more and more frustrated with tracking for people, my price went up. If I've got nothing better to do now, I'll charge 500k per hour - but that's just one grumpy old ranger, so do what makes you feel best.

The absolute single most important thing about determining your pricing is figuring out what makes you happy and your time is worth. If Ranger Jim LOVES to track and is completely envelopped in the whole story of the Hero of Tatooine, then Ranger Jim would probably be tickled pink just to have someone ask for his help. Heck, he may even pay to track for people. Now, if Ranger Grump has been frustrated beyond belief with this quest and really loathes the tracking skill all together, there may be no amount that would make him do it. Most of us are in between. If I'm bored and wanna visit tat, sure, I'll do it for cheap. If there's an uber spawn and I'm getting paid through the teeth to harvest, then my price will definitely go up.

SET A PRICE THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY.

So, I've gotten my first request to guide somebody through the Hero of Tatooine quests, and I've got some questions for my fellow Rangers.

What's the best way to go about this endeavor to get my customer through the quests as quickly as possible?

What's a fair price to charge on Eclipse for such a service?

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

I've been doing this for a guildie. It seems quite hard to me, even with tracking. (Only the pirates were easy so far).

So, I'd be interested in tips too.

Thanks for the input. So, in other words, I shouldn't attempt to guide for this quest unless I'm familiar with it first. And, it takes a long time and can be very aggravating due to NPC's being very difficult to find, even with tracking. Lastly, its probably more economical and efficient to just grab a couple friends andharvest whatever resources are in phase?

Does that about hit the nail on the head?

That actuallys begs the question, if you're not working under contract with a crafter, is it best to sell in-phase resources during or after that item is in phase?

That all depends. I usually sell resources in shift and I think most other rangers do that too. I know that I have also held on to large stacks simply because I didn't need the money at the time. In this instance, I've sold them later during a drought of that given resource (ie. long time with no good herb meat but I've got 100k of great stuff) or most often, I just give it to a friend who's in need. Selling immediately or holding onto your resources works either way. But if I'm hunting for money, I usually sell right away.

I'm usually more concerned with what's fun than with what's "economical".

Just an fyi. I did the bounty hunter part a few days ago, and when he asks you to pick which smuggler he is after you get the following list to choose from

/mob_a_smuggler

/mob_a_smuggler

/mob_a_smuggler

/mob_a_smuggler

/mob_a_smuggler

And of course if you choose the wrong one he doesn't want to talk to you again.
