i would like a bit of help preparing to mass produce camoflagh. i want to run off a few crates of camo from each planet as soon as i hit master ranger. my problem is, i seem to be producing very poor kits in the field (experimental quality 9%) i know i can produce EQ 14% (did it once or twice) just not sure how i did it.

so, if i want to create good quality kits, do i need to:

get better resources?

use a crafting station? (if so, how? i have tried to use the ones in town but they seem to make no difrence, tried using my regular kit while standing next to them, but saw no change in stats, and no new options)

do i need to take novice artisan?

do i need some type of tool? (i have a generic crafting tool 13.xx percent, its a bit beat up... does this effect it?)

thanks for the help, may post this on the artisan board to if none of us can figure it out

I have a droid with a crafting station module that I call out when I'm camping. From experience and from reading posts on the artisan boards, the droid crafting station gives much better results than the public crafting stations; it's on par with personal crafting stations.

You use a droid crafting station similar to how you would a public or personal one. Call the droid, stand next to it and use your crafting tool. If you are still using the generic crafting tool, have someone make you a specialized weapon/droid/general (or something like that) crafting tool. This will allow you to experiment. You can't adjust the quality, but you can adjust the quantity of kits you produce with each run.

According to the camo kit schematic in the datapad, the key stat to look for in the raw materials is Overall Quality. A higher OQ means (assuming here) less chance of failure and greater chance of successful experimentation.

Good luck!

Are you using the specialized "Weapon, Droid and General Crafting Tool"? You must use this next to a public station or a private droid station in order to get the schematic. (This part was a bit unclear, but it reads like you are not. If you are, then this is for those that are thinking of making factory crates but have not before.)

The main limitation is that you are restricted to the specific resources such as Corellian Bristley Hide, Corellian Insect Meat and Corellian Bones. If the Overall Quality is lousy on all of these, you're out of luck. You can't get an alternate unless you either wait several weeks or are in the very rare situation of having multiple types in existance at once.

This is exactly my situation. I have good OQ resources for Tatooine and Dantooine camo kits and can get 16 kits at a time through experimentation, but my Corellian resources are horrible and I can only get six kits at a time, even with experimentation. Problem is, all the currently available Corellian resources needed for the camo kits have low OQ so all I can do is triple my efforts and wait for better resources to make their way in.

thanks for the help all, i got myself a little R2 unit and a crafting tool, and i have been out playing with it. its great! even in BFD (dathomir) i can kill a coupple rarncor, dropa camp, and make a few kits of high quality camo.

i have done some testing, and the higher % quality you get from experimentation does not just add to the number of uses, it makes the kits BETTER! i use a kit of normal camo, run past an anchent bull rancor / nightsister stalker, brakes every time. try an ok 30% kit, and i can run past everything except those **edit** monkeys no prob... seems one out of 75 monkeys still brakes my mask! argh!

hope this helps, and resources on difrent planets can suck, for instance, on tempest, dath bone is 970oq, very nice, but meat and hide are around 10... so, i am stock piling bone, plan to collect around 10k, then save it for a time when the others are as good, and make some 90%+ crates

thanks for the help, and hope this helps out some of you noobs to

Greetings,

This reminds me of a good question - what type of factory do you use to mass produce ranger/scout items (traps, camo, camps ... that’s pretty much it, hehe).

In regards to those crafting kits... I was curious as to who makes them? artisans in general?

Greetings,

You can make the “Generic” and “Food & Chemical” crafting tools at Novice Artisan, but you’ll need Engineering I for the rest, including the "Weapon, Droid & General" one mentioned above. However, if you’re making anything that has some sort of quality associated with it (i.e. not a camp kit), the vogue thing at the moment is to get a Master Artisan-made crafting tool. They say the higher rating (visible upon examining the tool in question) will give you better successes and fewer failures. I’ve noticed no difference between my cruddy old tools and the fancy new ones, but it can’t hurt I you have the money to spend.
