OK,

I have noticed since i became a ranger about a month ago that the other rangers i deal with are -- for the lack of a better word-- meaner in nature as Rangers. i Cant recall there names, the only thing i can think to say is they are not "True" Rangers so they dont feel obligated toward the Unwritten code of conduct, or the Honor Code that I as a Ranger like to follow. This Code is simply like an "Eagle Scout" -- corny yes but you get the point.-- We are Brothers and Sister in; what i like to think of as a Profession different from all the reason. Kind of Jedi in attitude as far as humility, Modesty, Respect goes. After talking with a Very Honorable Ranger (you know who you are and ty) I decided to post my thoughts to get the thoughts of Ya'll my Fellow Rangers. If you follow this "type" of code or not does matter, i have always look at those that are True honorable Rangers follow this Code, in one way or another.

What do you think? - What would like to add to this code?

This Thread is here to let the ppl know how We are and what we are all about, In a way to Weed out those that are "Dishonorable" and Rude.

Do unto is my code. Any Ranger or Scout who is polite and asks for training gets it. Any bozo who runs up and says "Train me" gets ignored (sry, was crafting, did not see your request, sound is turned down, was on phone,etc).

As to PvP, all is fair...professions don't count.

Towards PvP, I will ask if someone wants/needs help... unless it is obvious they do or don't. Imp or Rebel, as long as they aren not overt. You are overt, I can't heal ya, sry bout that.

There is one PA who I will not help, period. Members of that PA do not get trained or helped. Sorry, the leaders are buttheads, they messed with me, so the members can suffer.

Yeah, we are all Rangers, but sometimes it's roleplaying and sometimes it's personal grudges. Wow, real life sorta.

With the holo craze in full swing my title has turned to novice scout. If people ask or /tell could you train me, I'll do what i can to Assist, even rebels.

How ever if I get A PLZZZZ train me NOW tell /ignore XXXX

That is what one must remember their are those rangers that are only doing it cuz a magic box said to do it. Other rangers do it because they enjoy it.

Honor, is that which is both displayed and earned. There are too many people that are concerned about only one self and nothing more. It is the line at which RPG turns to just a GIVE ME GIVE ME I need it Game.

I have always found that the Rangers in this forum are the most mature people i have met thus far. As said above, other forums has a lot of flaming and ranting. Yea, we do have a flame or a rant here and there, but thats understandable. It's usually because the post was way off topic.

All the rangers in this forum are willing to help others out without puttin them down, no matter how simple the question sounds. We are willing to help anyone out who asks for it. As long as they ask for it in a nice way. In-game, i have noticed that rangers all show a certain respect for one another. I have met a couple who were out of line, but once again, we can't all be perfect.

I'm a rebel Ranger, and when training toward Master Ranger, i bumped into a Imp Ranger who came through my Field Base. He asked politley if he could rest up, i said sure. We talked all about being a ranger, as compared to arguing because we are from a different faction. Before he left, i asked if he could train me in tracking 1. he said "Not a problem", hetrained me, and we wished each other well.

We all know that we are going to bump into an immature punk every now and then, but thats life. Even if a Holo Ranger comes passing through asking for advice, i'l gladly give it to them, even know they are not a true ranger. For those of us who are true rangers it goes deeper then that, and we know the feeling and we know why we are a ranger. I like Role playing and i find that that playing as a ranger lets me role play a great role. If we all stick together, we can do our best to inform others of what it means to be a true ranger.

I agree with both of you...it almost goes without saying (but saying it always brings out the warm and fuzzy side of me) that the Rangers know who they are without blowing their own horn all the time. I think we tend to see more than the surface when it comes to looking into a profession...which is why we are rangers...don't always need the big guns to satisfy us I guess. Whether we group or go solo....while we can't really smell the fresh scent of a quarry just over the hill....we do stop and smell the proverbial roses of being a Ranger!

Wow I'm surprised, I have the exact opposite experience with rangers in the game. At leat on Bria. They are always kind, and will look out for other rangers, and help them when ever they can. There does seem to be an honer among rangers on Bria. It's really great. If I see ranger above their heads, I know I can expect a pleasant helpful person,and have not wrong yet. Knock on wood.

I agree with all of you on this, and it's nice to see something like this, after reading some very disturbing post on the Ranger forum this is Extremely nice to see. I would like to meet some of these Ranger to make into good friends on SunRunner. I am in an Imp. based guild, I my self have not joined any faction but am in it because the Guild Leader is my very good friend who helped me out as a youngling. Its just so nice to be in "Guild" of ppl that makes it a point to be : Honorable, respectful, etc.

I tell you this there is another guild of ppl that i respect some them also follow a similar code as We do. the Teras Kasi , like the True Ranger, a true Teras Kasi is a person , I my self show a great deal of respect for these Individuals.

I would love to see a Code of Honor writen for all to see, even to see if it would spread to others, in an effort to help bring peace. Just something that other in the furture can Look at and/or modify.

There is definitely an "unwritten" code among Rangers. By this I mean all of us who really enjoyed, and have worked long an hard to become Rangers. I always help unless the person is very foul about things or just plain is giving others grief. This goes even for the "paper" rangers. By that I mean if someone is grinding like made through Ranger to achieve their FS slot I don't hold it against them since they didn't set up the way one must open their FSCS. If they are foul toward me or others then that is another thing. I just move off or if it is toward others I ask them politely to leave them alone. If they get nasty about it I will leave them alone, but if they try to grieve me I just take out my two Graul Maulers and ask them to please go away. Just about all the rangers I have met on Bria are great people. I havebeen a Master Ranger for some time now. In fact I would say most players in the game seem to also give a lot respect to Rangers they meet, because as a whole we treat them with repect and kindness unless really provoked. This respect between Rangers seems to go across factional lines just about all the time. If I meet a fellow Ranger who is Imperial, unless we are on a battlefield we almost always help one another if we need it, in fact even on battlefields I have seen it to some extent as well. I have hunted with them and traveled with them and we just don't get into this PvP very much. So I would say there really is a code among us all.

I think between Ranger's and TKA...these professions, in theory, lend to a serine atmosphere....a thinking as well as shooting personality. To enjoy or even think about becoming one, most people are already pretty much into being this type of character...I would think. Now maybe not everybody wants to be like Kane and walk the earth thinking about various philosophies....but we aren't the MacArthur types either. We're honest hunters and the like who want harmony and balance with both nature and our lives...who just happen to be able to fend for ourselves in any environment....and we're pretty cool too!

read up under the thread "Ranger Mysticism" to see how a few other rangers feel towards their profession and being a Ranger...some good thoughts out there.

There have been many posts since way back ref this "honor" thingy among Rangers. What type of players we are, personalities, etc. Some posts have mentioneda 'code of ethics' as derived from the Army Rangers, others have just been a rehash of what any 'true' Ranger already knows and practices.

From the very beginning,we have recognized the different 'character' of our class as is evident in our forum. Rarely do you see the flaming going on in other forums. Obviously, every now and then there will be some out-of-whack posts and rants, but on the whole there is a warm cozy feeling ofcamaraderie in this forum - at least among those of us who are truly Rangers. (Those that are just passing through on their way to the next holo or profession don't really count as Rangers as far as I am concerned and you can usually tell by their posts where they are coming from.)

My best hunts are with fellow Rangers, my best comrades are fellow Rangers. I would trust a fellow Ranger beforeany other profession and from what I have derived from this forum, the feeling seems to be mutual.

And this is why we are probably the first/(only?) profession to have started an intergalactic association (of some form or another) with chapters/organizations on virtually every server. If you want to see how well this forum has worked together, check out some of the old posts ref the "Ranger Conferences" where Rangers from several galaxies met on several occasions and started this association.

Yeah, some of you will read this and think to yourselfs, 'what a bunch of p******', but then again, that is what I would expect from someone who really doesn't 'get' this profession.

I have never run into a problem with another Ranger. Ever. Yeah, I play on TC, and it's mostly empty, and where there are people, they tend to be nice anyway, but it's the only proffession I would say that I've NEVER had a problem with anyone.

As so many others have said, Rangers don't seem to care about factions most of the time. If someone else enjoys the pleasure of sitting in a camp just fishing and watching the sunset on another perfect Nabooian day, then they have much respect from me, and it doesn't matter whether they fight the Empire or fight with it. At that moment of meeting, there is an understanding. There is a phrase I like to say about the Rangers, that we are the poet-warriors of nature, and I think in a sense that this embodies the "code". We watch, we enjoy, we are serene in our own way. Sure sometimes we must take a stand in the GCW but in the end, we understand that both factions are transitory, The mysteries of nature, however, will not end with the fall of the Empire. Were it to succeed, there would still be krayts to hunt.

I feel proud to be a part of the Rangers, and if I figure out how to post pics, I have a great one of me fishing while in a campt that's half-sunk in a river on naboo- no really, the fire, the chairs and everything are underwater, and I'm standing in the middle, fishing. I love looking at that picture. cheers me up when I wonder about life.

I think there is definatly something about being a Ranger, that makes us different. Now with the holo craze in full swing our numbers are depleting. I started as a scout, now I am a Ranger, with BH/Pisotleer weapons. And unless I ever happened to find a holo, I am not giving it up, unless I get bored, then I will go BH. and keep some Ranger skills.

I always help anyone that asks. I have friends on my list by profession, and what they need. If a doctor heals me, then I ask if he needs any supplies. If I don't have any on me, I make sure to keep a look out for him. I pay my tailor in hides, with a little extra for the effort. I had a CH ask me where to find a certain animal, I helped and got a free mount. Turned it down, too slow. I don't charge for training skills. I have a house, I let a dancer/entertainer use it for storing artisan supplies. (She is cute too).

I wish they would give us a bit more help in our profession. Traps, Camps, and what not. For any aspiring Ranger on Tempest. Give me a shout, be glad to help.
