I am posting this here for general Ranger information, but I am hoping N'Raas can perhaps find out what is happening for us. There is some new code going into play this week that impacts both PvP and PvE combat, called Damage Mitigation. This is nicely detailed in some posts from the Carbine and Pistoleer correspondents:

The question I have is; will Rangers be getting Ranged or Melee Damage Mitigation? Or neither? With the three-level approach the devs are implementing, you get teh highest-level mitigation at Master in a combat profession, but the prerequisites for Ranger are such that few of us can master Ranger and a combat profession. So are we just screwed, or will we get some form of mitigation? It would seem like we would be excellent candidates for Melee Damage Mitigation, at least.

Neither.

Only Weapons (note I did not say combat ) Professions will be receiving mitigation certification.

Most of us will be receiving our certifications from whatever weapon profession we subscribe to.

bummer, I guess I don't need to ask then if ranger DM would stack with weapon DM. Oh well. Interesting you specified "weapon" though. That means the CH,wont get it. Which is fine with me, considering the pets are the ones taking all the damage. I'm going to assume that means Marksman, and all it's specialties, and Brawler with all it's specialties. Is that it, or will BH, Commando, or Smuggler get it? I mention BH and Commando, seeing as they both get some special profession specific weapons.

Damage Mitigation does not stack...

  • You will find it is a Certification in the game system, rather a skill modifier value.

Essentially...

  • If you have Ranged Mitigation 1 and Ranged Mitigation 2 you only receive the benefit of Mitigation 2.

Though, you can get Ranged Mitigation and Melee Mitigation if you purchase the appropiate skills, and receive the benefits of both.

Note:

  • This is a different system than the Ranged and Melee Defense bonuses we receive at Master, which do stack.
