Hi guys im am currently working on ranger cause i think it is one of the coolest profs and i love the new abilities i get. but i was thinking what combat prof i could pick to help me in the field, well theres riffleman, which works very well until the surrounding creatures agro you and you have to talk down 7 at close range, then theres swordsmen which is very powerful PVE but you got to do alot of chaseing when your target flys away at near death

but anyway ill get to my point these are just random ideas that may help the ranger prof get back on its feet. im not complaining or anything but i just wanted to throw out a few ideas and see what you all thought. Forgive me if some of the things i say here are already intergrated into the ranger profession because i am not a master ranger yet.

For starters what if ranger had an intergrated combat treesuch asabh or smuggler has, im not saying like a gatorwrestleing skill but maybe it could be a meelee profession like a specailization in swords, this way rangers could spend there sp to become a more rounded hunter with ranged and meelee combat. if not this what about a very High dodgebonus (maybe only against creatures) at master ranger. because a ranger who has been fighting creatures all his life would have almost a sixth sense at the way a creature would behave when its feeling threatend.

Also what if a masterranger could tell the stats of the meat and hide before he made the kill kinda like a hunter back in the 1800's could tell if a pelt of an animal was good quality, this way i could take some of the wasted time of riding around killing animals and finding out they have a hide with an oq of 150.

anyway thats my two cents for now

again forgive me if some of the things i have said are already intergrated into the ranger profession as i am not a master yet

i am not complain and im perfectly fine with the ranger prof the way it is, id just like to get more people to love it as much as we do.

thanks for your time

Now, as to an integrated weapon, a bow would be nice, not melee, not ranged, usuable by both - but I digress.

Do a search for more on the bow idea.

Yeah i see what you mean

Yeah an integraded weapon would be cool, but you would have to find a way to give it a star warzy feel like a bowcaster

what did you think of the other ideas i had about dodge and resources?

Take a gander at this thread, lost of peoples opinions on weapons, mods and hunting skills, be sure to have a look down the thread at other posts because there are some nice ones that show we have lots of mixed fealings on this topic, but we all like defensive abilities/mods

Melee works well (altho for the life of me, why you want to charge critters with pointy sticks is beyond me). Ranged works well - even rifle - if you know tactics and can prevent the madding horde from aggroing you.

It's personal preference really. I have hunted with just about every combat profession there is, and I have found a way to complement (not compliment, if they suck I tell em so) every one.

Leave the integrated stuff to those classes - like BH and Smuggler - that traditionally use certain weapons.

Very true,

Swordsman/ Ranger is quite a powerful profession to mix with Ranger, the defenses and offenses in swordsman are about the best melee combo in the game. Rifleman/ Ranger has quite a nice symmetry as well.

I have mastered pistols/ carbines/ tka/ fencer/ swords/ and pike...

Pistols provide the best damage type range, there is a pistol for about every vulnerability. With a good weapon, most critters are hurting bad before they ever really hit you, combine scout traps and good speed (more shots per round mean more damage) the specials that actually work in pistoleer will serve you well.

Currently, Im a master Pike and I love it. The defenses kinda suck, the accuracy on pikes suck (if i dropped my pike i would miss the ground) However, the area attacks and area KD are very very nice. For me, its a very sexy profession and I think i found the profession im going to stick with for a long time.

If i didnt think that pikeman was so cool, i would be back to swordsman in a second.. combined with master ranger, you will have no problems soloing most of the critters in the game unbuffed and unarmored.

And lookscool ! I have to agree upon your "Pistoleer summary". I was Master Pistoleer before I went Pike and I must say... Pistoleering is not at all a bad profession.

FanShot against ranged attack critters, whoa !! (I'm nostalgic)
