Just really curious about what a SWG ranger's function is... I have novice ranger now and i'm not sure if i want to continue or not.
I'm sure it depends a lot on the other professions you pick. Anyways any info you guys can give me would be much appreciated thanks!

Well, you can take it a couple of ways. I think most of us are explorers at heart. We like to wander and find things not listed in the POI's. You can play a ranger as a hunter, gathering resources to sell to crafters and turn a profit. You can play as a tracker, many people are hiring rangers now to find certain things to finish quests or specific hunts. It's definitely more of a lifestyle than a profession. Try it and see how you like it. You'll definitely want a combat profession to prop up ranger though. If you end up liking ranger, you'll want to stay a long time. Welcome to the community.

Also if you don't know what combat profession to choose, I would recommend rifleman. Being a rifleman really makes the ranger profession complete. You become incredibly stealthy.
Rangers - we are but men!

What Tecam didnt tell you is that rifleman is very very slow at the start and middle of the skill progression. Fire rate is very slow and the self imflicted damage from specials is very damageing, but if u perservere with it towards the top end of rifleman tree the proffession takes on a whole new lease of life. And you will find your self running through enitre creature lairs in mins if not seconds(My personal best is two graul mauler lairs in under 8 mins including travel to second nest).

I personally prefer the TKM approach because of being totally self sufficient......can heal my own wounds and damage via meditate and can stay out longer...BF can be an issue though...
