Since Dathomir is currently home to every Ranger on Bloodfin right now. I was out hunting with my guild and decided to try out my traps. Ihad believed they were capped at CL45-50's. But my flash bombs and sonic pulse's landed consistent on both Rancors, Bull Rancors, Enranged Bull Rancor, and Enraged Rancors. I'ma master but i was getting 1584 trapping points for each one I landed. So those top two traps were effective up to CL89.
So what i saw last night was that the higher the level of trap the better the chances on higher creatures. I know this is a no-brainer but I dont remember it being this way. P-Darts never stuck into the Enraged Rancors. The Sonic Pierce effects were lasting longer then the flash bombs blind. When your facing 4-5 Enraged Rancors making them blind and stunned (since dizzy doesnt matter) is nice in an AoE trap.
Anyone else notice they are having better luck with traps?

I've never had bad luck with traps to begin with. I do notice certain creatures are resistant to certain traps(memory fails me here). I use bone spurs and noisemakers on a near constant basis. I don't notice much difference between trapping creatures with 3k ham and creatures with 10k ham. I haven't messed with many critters stronger than that. I have just as much luck with scout traps as i do ranger traps. I'm at ranger 3/2/4/4.

Yeah your thread on the Giant Pekos about their resistances. The only thing i can fiqure on that is because its a flying creature. But we have a new Ranger in my guild and he's in love with traps. And finished that line in Ranger first. So thats why i've been trying them again. Im going to try all the traps out on the Rancors tonight and see which stick

I still use them a lot because it helps me function as a swordsman. If I'm fighting a grouup of creatures and I blind them, I have a lot less chance of being poisoned while I'm area attacking them. I'm rarely buffed so I like to trap strong creatures. I usually use the same combo for everything, with mixed results. Here's what I usually use 1 on 1 against a 10k HAM or above creature. I amy use anywhere from 1 to all depending on results and my action bar's state. I have found that the traps are far from useless, at least to me. I only wish they had a little longer duration. I'd love the ability to experiment with them using the station in the HTFB.
bonespur/flashbomb-blind
noisemaker-stun
glow wire-lower defenses
P-dart-slows 'em down(awesome when used with intimidate)
adhesive mesh-immobilises MOB when you need to retreat and regroup
Hope this helps someone and happy hunting.

I threw a couple of flash bombs at a canyon krayt the other day, he just kind of looked at me and laughed, then started biting me

Traps dont effect anything that big. We've had this discussion about whether they should or shouldnt. But if you through an adhesive mesh in his mouth he wont be able to bite you.

During a Krayt hunt this weekend I tried all kinds of traps and never got one to land on a Canyon Krayt, I must have trown 100 traps thinking one must work! I thought one did and got all excited untill I realized it was a AoE trap and just caught a Juvinile in the area. Not sure the CL on the Juviniles but my traps seemed to land about 50% of the time after I stopped wasting them on the big guys.

Maybe tonight I'll head back to the Kimo town and torment the big guy with some traps

Since I've been solo hunting lately, I've only been using my traps when I get detected (from conceal shot or I screw up my tactics).
Given that I've been hunting on Naboo for insect & avian meats and wooly hides, I've had very good success with traps. Only one out of 10-ish traps have been failing.
But, no huge (and difficult) creatures though.....
