Thread: Regarding Modular Camps....

First off, I am in favor of modular camps or anything else that might increase the usefullness of Rangers. Now, I would like to put forth the suggestion of a further module for camps that is Ranger specific. I would love to see a module that can be created by a Master Ranger that allows a Ranger to increase the quality of a given harvested resource stack by atleast 10% across all stats.

I base this thinking on a Ranger having a work station in his camp where he can work over the resources (discarding obviously defective meat, hides, etc.) using a combination of specialised preservetives and better tools. This is using the theory that a Ranger "dresses" the carcass out in the field and gets a general sense of the quality of the resouce then carts the carcass back to his camp to actually finish the process of stripping it of it goods. I.E an inconvenient burn wound from a laser rifle has marred the outside of the pelt from a Piket. Using his enhanced knowledge of the preservation techniques associated with "dressing" a variety of creatures and having access to more specialised tools to ensure the highest quality product, a Ranger can less if not totally remove the damaging effects to a hide that otherwise would be top quality. Also, given said creature knowledge, a Ranger would know the best ways in which to strip said pelt insuring a more pleasing final hide then a average "weekend" hunter.

Since common sense does not play a huge factor in what can an cannot be done within SWG, I see no reason why something of this nature could not be implemented and justified. If common sense where an real concideration, then the use of the DXR-6B rifle would make the harvesting of hides impossible as acid dmg would render an possible hide worthless. Following that line of thought though, it would be interesting if using different weapons gave different results in regards to harvest qualities. But that could be a whole seperate post and idea thread.

eh. I don't see the point of this. It's not that its' a bad idea...it's just that it would need to be done effectively. Let's say you get a 100k stack of something...it should take a Looooooong time to change it. Changing even 100 units should be hard. Otherwise it's just another skill of ours that will be picked up by many to the detriment of our proffession (see how much the BHs like having everyone take 1 tree in their proffession? I don't want that).

The point being to make it "balanced" it woud have to take a lot of time to change large stacks. I mean a REALLY long time. Basically, a Ranger shouldn'tbe able to take a resource and just put it through a machine to make it better. The Ranger should have to do it in stacks of X. (X should be no more than 100). That means that by the time you boost the stats of a large stack, a better stack has probably spawned.

I think this idea just doesn't work. The Artisans would ask for a similar skill for minerals. In the end, I'd rather just go hunting during good spawns then spend my time doing more crafting/harvesting stuff.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Phenix,

I understand your point. But you could also make it a Master Ranger perk and that would take of the dabbling factor. As for taking a long time I agree there should be a time factor involved, something on the order of the average factory run. If you wish to limit the amount that could done at one time, then cap it at 1k stacks.
