Rangersare supposed to be fast,lengthy/stackable speed burstsare already coded as ForceRun1 and ForceRun2and with a few little modifications...

How about throwing Rangers a bone here?

(I realize ForceRun3 would be out of the question)

I'd just like a bonus to base speed. Small, but permanent. Rather than *or in addition to* the crawling speed bonus we get right now.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

/agree with phen here... we've mastered the art of terrain negotiation/hostile enviroment living... a small but permanent boost to speed across said terrain other than up a hill would be awesome...

I'd even be satisfied with the current bonus not being crawl only, especially since it's not called crawl speed.

We should also get a swimming bonus as well.

Force Run gives a swimming bonus, same code but alter it to cost HAM instead of force.

I think Rangers should get an small general movement speed increast, but I also think they should get a normal burst run pool that can be toggled, and used for short bursts or long bursts as the pool deminishes and regenerates.

I agree we should be able to move a little faster.

Even if we could do a "double time" sort of thing that would slowly tick off HAM. So thatone might have to stop and rest for a few minutes between 20-30 minute longbursts of fast paced hunting.

I think our terrain negotiation should work with vehicles too. If we know terrain well enough to move that fast on it we should know it well enough to "drive" over it better.

I too would like to see some sort of added bonus other then crawling. I really want increased default speed, but would settle for a longer or faster burst run. Maybe even the ability to climb even faster and steeper.

Actually, both an increased burstrun and a permanent increase to default running speed should be in order. I never understood why all humanoids run at exactly the same rate - it isn't very realistic. And, as many of the ideas here have expressed, we're the ones with terrain negotiation and über crawling speed.

In any case, since we don't receive any terrain negotiation bonuses above master scout, wouldn't you think that an increase to default running speed would come after the terrain negotiation? I mean, just as /maskscent is the realm of the scout and /conceal is its parallel ranger skill, why wouldn't terrain negotiation come with scout and running speed come with ranger? Not to leave the scouts out in the cold, however, I'd think if the skills were mapped out like the following, it'd be fair:

Scout:

Exploration IV: Running +5

Master: Running +5

Ranger:

Novice: Running +10

Wayfaring I: Running +10

Wayfaring II: Running +10

Wayfaring III: Running +20

Wayfaring IV: Running +20

Master: Running +20

or something like that... As to how much faster than a normal humanoid each point figures out to, I'd think that by the time one reaches Master Ranger and has all 100 points, that we should be almost, but not quite, as fast as some of the mounts.
