Thread: Ranger Services Prices

I have had a request that there be a thread on what y'all charge for your services. I know all servers have different economies, so if you could list you server along with the prices for the following items, that would be great .

  • Tracking - This may be either hourly charges or success/failure charges.

  • Contract Harvesting - Strictly CPU or so you have a time/buff/expenses surcharge?

  • Concealing - Can anyone justify charging for this skill?

  • Setting up camps for events - I recently did a wedding reception, so I know this has been requested before.

  • Other services that I didn't mention?

Please guys, this is not about who is charging more than who, it is meant to be a guide to help some newer Rangers get an idea of what to charge for services. No flames please .

Here is my list;

  • Tracking - I don't track for cash...I rarely get contacted for tracking services, and I will track for free if I can leave whenever I want, but ifI am busy, I will decline the offer.

  • Contract Harvesting - I give it to my guild for free items.

  • Concealing - I don't even use it on myself.

  • Setting up camps for events - I recently did a wedding reception, and I was paid in goods.

  • Other services that I didn't mention? I am just not a 'contract' Ranger. I am here for the good of my guild, and I rarely get contacted for the use of my skills.

On Sunrunner, this is what I charge.

Tracking - Depends on the rarity of the mob. If it for the Hero of Tatooine quest, my fee is 100k. Other mobs have other prices. I also don't charge if I am unable to deliver.

Contract harvesting - Depends on the quality of the resources and the size of the stack wanted. I rarely take these missions unless it requires me going to an adventure planet. Killing hundreds of gualamas vs. dozens of mantigrues...I'll take the dozens thank you.

Concealing - I have a conscience...no charge

Setting up camps for events - Ooh, I want to do this so badly! No charge.

On Gorath I charge 100k per hour for tracking. If the tracking was a success it's an additional 50k.

I don't charge for concealing. I don't charge for setting up camps for people to healing and to hang out. My payment honestly is the company I get. Can get lonely out there sometimes and my dwarf nuna Morvo can't hold a conversation all to well. Harvesting resources for creds. Generally I only harvest for docs being that's usually what brings in the most creds and I charge based on what the current stats of the resources I harvest are. Usually around 100-200 cpu.

I only do something if I want to do it. If I want to do it then there is no charge. If I don't want to do it then you probably won't want to be paying what it would cost to hire me (yes, I probably would do it for enough money but only because I don't really have any sort of cash flow coming in right now).

I have never tracked for pay tho I have been asked several times. I only track for my needs or the guild.

I have taken contracts loosely. Players on the trade forum want it so I collect what I can then drop on their vendor. I did make one good contact lately that i hope will turn into my one good customer. Other than that I merely hunt what is in shift then I go kill Tuskens.

Never used a camp for pay.

I never camo.. only maskscent

  • Tracking - Only use it for my harvesting runs, don't do it for money

  • Contract Harvesting - Fixed CPU for one regular buyer, trade forum for good stuff or when I'm in the mood

  • Concealing - Can't do this at the moment, but wouldn't charge for it if I could

  • Setting up camps for events - Freebie

  • Other services that I didn't mention? Standing on streetcorners in hawtpants <whistles innovently>

All other services I either don't do at all or only for guildies and then free ofc.

Prices have changed as I've gained more experience as a Ranger. When I first started I stuck to harvesting and let Doctors bid whatever they wanted on resources. Then I gotsome regular and reputabledoctors and just let them pay whatever they wanted. Now I rarely do private hire at all and change prices according to the situation of the person asking, and they're attitude.

  • Tracking - This may be either hourly charges or success/failure charges.

  • I would probably charge nothing if I couldn't find what they were after; if I found their mark, the charge could (and has ranged) from nothing again, up to1 million credits.

  • Contract Harvesting - Strictly CPU or so you have a time/buff/expenses surcharge?

  • CPU charge as dictated by market forces. I either go specifically after premium items, such as Avian or Herbivore meat, or I do free harvesting for friends and PA members.

  • Concealing - Can anyone justify charging for this skill?

  • Never charged, never would.

  • Setting up camps for events - I recently did a wedding reception, so I know this has been requested before.

  • Never charged - this comes under my "fun" category and would be a pleasure to do more of this.

  • Other services that I didn't mention?

  • I locate babies and animals for Creature Handlers and Bio-Engineers. I ask that they email me the things they are looking for, and whenever I track or find one, I let them know. No charge for this.

Basically, I'd say 80% of the services I do are free. On the remaining 20% I charge as high as I can, so that I can afford to keep other things free/cheap as possible.

If I had to put a value on my time asa Master Ranger, it would be somewhere between 500,000 and 1,000,000 credits an hour.

This is partly because I genuinely believe my Ranger profession makes me worth this, and also because I don't want to be "cheap". I want to be seen as expensive, as a luxury. I want to do one job a month for less money than 4 jobs a week.

Tracking - I hate doing this, so, I decline all offers for this. Other than when a BE needs a certain animal for DNA. And I tend to only do that for friends, so there is no charge, short of them paying for my buff (as i am also their bodyguard during this time)

Contract Harvesting - If a guildmate needs organics, i will either give it to them, or sell to them for 1 cpu in order to cover buff costs. If it is not a guildmate, then that depends. The way I usually work when doing hide/bone/meat runs, is that I don't go hunt it unless i already have a buyer telling me to get x number of units, and they will pay me y number of credits per unit. I have a few loyal customers that always come to me for organics.

Concealing - I don't have that tree of ranger yet.

Setting up camps for events - I would probably do this for free, as i only have Ranger 0-0-4-0, so i can't make the HUGE camps.

Other services that I didn't mention?none that i can think of. although i plan on opening a wilderness outdoorsman shop, which will sell crates of traps, fishing gear, camps, cammo kits, ect.

by the way, i am on the Lowca server

    • Tracking

      • Itis very rare that I do this, if at all. I have had others in my "guild" (if you can call it that ) that get up to [Dr Evil voice] one meeeelion credits [end voice] for a Jedi trial hunt.

      • I don't help track to find Jedi for BH, unlessthe target isPatrick Arzo's Jedi. Long story, I'll spare you the mind-numbing idiocy.

    • Contract Harvesting

      • This is my main bread -n- butter monkey making. Contracts are more a "I'll do my best but no guarntees" approch. I personally never go above 20 Cr/Ubut the server has offers from 50Cr/u to 250. Sux to be a crafter here...

      • I also make arrangements to have folks help me with the hunts. I pay them on the spot for the harvestunless they have made arrangments already.

    • Concealing

      • Never charged. I fear some would mistake it for griefing.

    • Setting up camps for events

      • I have been asked and did one and did not charge. They tipped anyway.
      • I have made and sold HTFB and FB on occation. I don't do big runs though. Made 2 crates last week and they are still on the vendor.

    • Other services that I didn't mention?

      • Helping BE's take samples. Didn't charge but I got a Bio-pet out of the deal.

      • Helping CH find and tame babies. Rare, but I get asked from time to time. Don't charge (if they are nice) but I get tipped and only if I can spare the time, which is VERY rare nowdays (so many toons... and I still have only one account )

      • Perhaps the above is covered under both Track and Conceal.

I currently only track for Jedi Knight trials as they need regular tracking for several rare mobs. I am charging 50k for 3 hours with a 250k bouns for a successful hunt. Although I have made over 1mil for successfully tracking a graul Maruder! That was a nice bonus .
