After seeing all the recent posts about tracking (and being bored at work...) I got to thinking about the things I had been asked to track over my career as a ranger.
What's the strangest thing you have been asked to track or something interesting/unexpected that has come out of tracking?
_______
I once got an "encoded email" from a rebel friend asking me to /areatrack an imperial for the rebel cause. The rebellion would pay me 10k credits for my services after successfully detailing the imperial's activities for a couple hours.
Being a good Rebel (and a roleplayer) I said "Sure, I'll take that job." I traveled to the imperial's last known location given to me by the rebel and started to /areatrack him and log his noteworthy movements & interactions.
After a while I got to thinking... Hey - I don't know this imperial guy at all so why am I /areatrack’ing him when I can just /follow him in close proximity. So I located him and began to follow him around trying to look inconspicuous. He stopped me and started grilling me about my movements and affiliations. Although in hindsight it was quite silly... the thought never occurred to me that he was in on the game. Mission Failed - no 10k for me.

AJedi wanna-be, no clue as he had no rank displayed, asked me to track Kimos for him, as he was having no luck finding them.
Too bad we weren't on Lok, nor was he looking on Lok.
Of course, I did not disabuse him of his certain knowledge he was on the correct planet. I just wandered off. Laffing. Hard. And telling all the guildies about it.
