I am currently a Master Swordsman / Master TKA with some other crap thrown in for fun.

I want to head up the Ranger tree to master now and was wondering which of the fighter skills would work well with the Ranger skill set?

Really, any combat elite profession goes well with Ranger. I would guess that TKA or Rifleman would probably one of the better. I'm a carbineer as well as a ranger.

Khar'We Zdaad - Bloodfin MASTER SCOUT, TK
Quest for Enlightenment:
Scout, Medic, Holo1 - Weaponsmith, Artisan, Holo2 - Dancer, Entertainer
Holo3 - Chef, Holo4 - Slient, Ranger, Carbineer, Marksman
No Unlocking, now another year of grinding to get my Jedi.

I think meditate line in TK is the deciding factor, especially when mobs love to dizzy/blind ya. Med it away, then harvest....since you can't harvest with those effects still on....

you can't meditate while dizzy.

and meditation doesn't cure blind.

at least not that i know of, although blind only takes a few seconds to wear off, and you can harvest while dizzy.

i could be wrong, but i am fairly sure these are what meditate heals:

Wounds

Poison

Disease

Bleeding (although i am not positive on this one, as i use the medic first aid ability to cure bleeding in the middle of a fight)

the only states that stop you from harvesting are these:

being in combat

blinded

swimming

riding a mount or vehicle

One thing you have to remember, when we say "work well with" we mean you can use. If you mean what enhancements and complimentry skills that add the class you have, there are none. Indeed, if you don't want to actually reduce your combate effectiveness Ranger is not the way to go. If you are getting Ranger for just to help Jedi track their knight trial targetsyou should just take the tracking line. Oh, and tracking does not work as well as the rest the non-ranger community seems to think it does, you might be a bit disapointed. If you are going for the harvesting bit, it has been shown that a good combat template + scout hunting ismore productivethen Master Ranger and the one, singular elite combate prof you can get. Costs like Doctor + Elite and all the efectiveness of that single Elite.

There is one, shining combination that most take: Ranger/Rifleman. This is due to the fact that /conceal and rifleman concealment effects do work well together. TKM's are just as popular, however, for self buf and great speed in hunting.

Frederick Skinner
Antarian Ranger, Ranger(0030), Master Rifleman, CH(4214)
Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

Obleet- Bleeding does get cured with medding.

In addition to what Fred said regarding rangers and riflemen-not only /conceal and /concealshot work together well, but additionally the faster /prone speed, which is all Ranger Wayfaring is really good for.

Well I don't know any Jedi. I just wanted to take Ranger because I thought it would be fun. I don't care to be, and I hate the term "UBER". I just want to have fun.

Oh and Meditate will cure bleeding or for a better term it slows it down a lot faster. But not an insta heal. It seems to effect it the same way it effects poision.

Any way thatks for the replies. I will probably keep TKA as thats how I fight most of the time.

Both work very well in either killing one great big bad meanie (such as a GDK, or even a canyon krayt) or killing a ton of little to medium sized critters at once (such as taking out a big lair of bolle bols in about a minute and gathering up all that herbivore meat). The added blast damage and high damage area attacks is what made me choose MS over TKM.

The one regret is not having meditate to cure my disease when I'm hunting alone. The other day I was gathering Endorian scaley hide for my chef buddy, and had a damn health disease for well over an hour lol. It was only giving me 4 wounds per tick, butby the timemy buffs ran out, I was left with a fully black health bar.

That is why I chose TKM... well that and the fact that my other toon is a TKM/Master Swordsman/Master Brawler. I really enjoy both Swords and TK but the fact that I can heal myself pushed it over the edge to Master Ranger/TKM for this toon. I want to be able to hunt as nearly independent as possible. This toon is goign to be a Mighty Hunter support for the guild. If I need to worry about different types of damage then I bring out the pure fighter to do his thing.

I expect to do a lot of solo hunting.

And I thought I was the only one crazy enough to go carbineer/ranger. Good to see another.
