Thread: Intrepid RIN channel???

Is there a Ranger channel on Intrepid nowadays? I for sure can not find the specific RIN nammed channel. Sorry for my newbness, but a search on the intrepid forum did not help, and I'm sure if I posted there is would be burried by all the GF5 posts before you could say Correlian Gurrcatt.
If not, is there any interested in such a channel for Intrepid?There used to be one for sure, but it appears to have left sometime after I did.

And while we're on the topic, is there one for rangers on Kettemoor? I did find one ranger channel there, but there are no actual rangers who use it. Just a bunch of BH's who have tracking and all they talk about is killing jedi.

Ha! I found a similar channel, but full of Jedi talking about Giant Kimo's or somesort.

I just checked out the "Ranger" channel on Kettemoor, and there were two niceppl there and one identified himself as a long time Ranger, so I guess it varies.
Any other Kettemoor rangers that know and use it out there?
But if what you say is true, maybe someone could set up a RIN channel, public but moderated?? I havent bothered to check out the details of how channels work, anyone know? Are the other servers's RIN channels created by players or SOE? are they moderated (and how does that work)?

That's the channel I was referring to. I guess I just hit it at the wrong times.

I don't know about Intrepid or some of the other servers, but it's pretty easy to start up.
You can actually do it from a text line (and can see a menu of text commands if you just type "/chat" without the quotes in your spatial). I don't remember the full command to set up a room, name it, and make it unmoderated and public all in one line though...
But, an easy way is just to right click your spatial (or any) chat tab.
Then choose "Join Channel"..
Then select "create Channel" from that menu window.
Fill in the info, which is something like "RIN" for room name, and "Ranger Information Network" for the room description. Then make it unmoderated, and public.
If you'd like to spread the word, just tell people to type "/chat join rin" in their spatial.
You'll then have an RIN chat tab which you can select and type in spatial... OR, you can pull that tab off to another area of the screen, and then use the /rin command before your text (like /tell, /gu, /g etc..)

You'll actually want to make your chat room unmoderated. The reason being, people can join, but then they can't talk until you give them permission. It would be a hassle to keep giving people permission every time they enter the room, and if you created it and were the moderator, others can't join and chat when you're not online to give them access.
If it's public and unmoderated it will remain online and others can join until server reset, even if you log off. With the new chat channel changes in the recent publish, the room will create itself again when you log on the next day (if someone else hasn't created it that morning).. in which case, you'll probably autojoin the room.

I think there needs to be a list of the channels for each server... And where they are at... and hopefully they will get popular... and making it sticky would be nice....
