Hello.

I was wondering if without achiving master ranger I would be able to use the dathomir camo kit made by someone else as long as I have Wayfaring IV and Bio Clothing with camo bonuses on it?

Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure, but I'd say possibly.

I was using the Yavin and Dantooine camo's from WayIII when I only had WayI, so, if you can use camo from 2 levels above I'd guess at WayIV you could use Dath.

HOWEVER, the effectiveness of camo is based on a number of factors, including your skill mod for camo and the creature that you're rolling against detection by. I just use /mask on Dath atm as the ingredients for a camo are 'local' and I'm not quite up to the stage of downing three rancors just to make half a dozen applications of camo 'in country'.

Thanks for your info.

How well does mask scentwork against high lvl creatures on unfriendly planets as Dath or Lok? Assuming Imaster scoutand wearmask bio clothes?

The reason for my questions is I'd like to go BE and need some kind of protection from all the agressive creatures to sample DNA as much as I canwithout being attacked.

Mask Scent has never lasted too long while on Danth. Endor it stays up forever it seems =). Just about every place else. And really havent tried dath camo kit to see if any better yet. Essentially if your in dath, Mask scent can not hurt, it does work, just not as well as any other place. Esp if its a rancor your flying past.

no you cant you have to have the kit put on you by a master because you are not experienced to use it. well that was the problem i had it may have changed recently

I know when I was given some camo kits by a Ranger back when I was a Scout I couldn't use then and got the skills message up. But I have only just taken Wayfaring III and leveled that largely by working Dantooine, camoing myself and my group, using the old crate of camo. Likewise, when I went up to Yavin recently to tend harvesters I was able to /conceal.

!!! Ah... unless you can use the camo from the box above the level you are already at. /slaps forehead.

Okay, I want a volunteer novice ranger to experiment with camo on. You may end up dead, lost and badly affected by the materials used, but, look, it's in the interest of science...

From what I've heard, anyone with the /conceal command can use any camo kit. So you shouldn't need to be a Master Ranger to use Dathomir camo but it will probably be less effective than mask scent until you reach Master.

Same inf I have. If you have conceal you can use any camo kit.

The camo skillmod you havemay not be the best for "high level" planets though?

Your level of Wayfaring only affects whether you can make the camo kits or not and how well they coneal you.

As long as you have Wayfaring I, you can use any camo kit.

I think we're getting to the bottom of it!

You're quite right in saying that the Wayfaring level grants you the schematic to make a camo, and yes, anyone of Novice Ranger and above seems to be able to apply (or is this Wayfaring I and above?) can apply a camo to themseves and others.

Your skill modifier effects how successful you are in any check by a creature against detecting you.

So, at Novice Ranger you have your 100 modifier for /maskscent and 0 modifier for /camo.
At Way I you gain an addition save against detection of +40 and a further +40 at Way III. This means the creature (as this is a turn based game I'll describe it like the dice based version for illustration) makes a roll based on it's level as to whether it will detect you. This may be modified by it's state, ie, alert, spooked, scout, etc. You make a saving rol against this based on your /conceal and /mask modifers.

If either of these comes in lower than the creatures roll you will get either sniffed out or spotted.

By Master you have a mask/camo of 100/100 so with the appropriate camo kit and the right sort of 'state' on the prey, you'll go undetected against a CL100.

Actually, that's just sparked two questions in my mind. First does thi smean that creatures on Dathomir just have exceptione hearing and eyesight (would make sense in the dark there) and secondly, are BE overkill or insurance at Master level?

So, I would suspect that at Way III, with your +80 camo modifier and a > +20 camo/mask BE item you'd have the same chance of being spotted as a MR ?

Which is more or less where we came in with the original question, lol. And if you DID have two players, one MR one BE'd, cammoed up you'd still not be able to say for sure which had the most effective save as there are probably other variables that come into play in the calculation.
