Thread: Has there ever been any discussion about making HUNTER it's own elite profession?

I thought I heard talk about it once or twice.

Ya, but then the devs just decided to squash it all in one tree and make some other crap skills and generically call 'em rangers.

What do you mean mate? makinga new elite-elite profession called hunter or creating a new profession called hunter?

Ill reply for both anyway

1- A new elite-elite hunting profession

By elite-elite i mean above the existing elite classes. This would require maybe master ranger then use up all your skill points in Hunter in other words 100% skill point usage in one profession (including pre-reqs i.e. master ranger).

This idea has been tossed around before and could possibly be a way to gain ranger weapons and such. Howeverall the times it has cropped up it has been shot down because bassically, (ranger as it is now) is barely even an elite profession without making it a pre-req to an even higher profession.

2- New Elite Profession - Hunter

Rangers are the hunters, the survivalists, the outdoorsmen/women. The problem is that ranger doesn't achieve this vission atm due to lack of attention, a game that for all intents and purposes is still beta, and a dev crew that has to cater to the powergamers (whinners) above all others.

In an ideal world ranger would be all the above, however we will have to wait a long time before we even see the slightest developments.

I think that #2 kinda puts it all in a nutshell.

Eventually they will have to go into Elite-Elite professions. I don't see that happening any time soon since they are working on JtL, Jedi, and hopefully fixing all the other professions that are mostly broken atm, and giving Rangers some love eventually. An Elite Elite profession would probably cost less skill points since you dedicated lots of time to get the other profs to attain Elite Elite, and the exp on the elite elite will probably be insane. Hopefully an elite ranger profession when they get around to it won't include making and sitting in camps for a couple of years.

Whoever says "That which does not kill me........makes me stronger" has never heard of a war of attrition .

I don't think that I was applying it to that kind of situation. I think I am using it as "if you don't destroy me and give me the chance to come back, i will be stronger and more ready to defeat you".

We could use the War of Attrition between Egypt and Isreal from 1969-1970.

Egypt thought that over time with constant bombings that Isreals army would lose it's morale, but although there were alot of causlaties Isreal did not admit defeat from that war.

I guess if you were to quote directly from Nietszche, from Twighlight of the Idols

Out of life's school of war:What does not destroy me, makes me stronger.

This is more of the line as what I was trying to get across.

OK, look at Lance Armstrong as an example.

The man almost died from cancer, but he came back stronger to win 6 Tour de France titles all in a row, so could you say that "What did not kill him(ie.Cancer) made him stronger", to come back and blow away every other professional bike rider?

That was his War of Attrition, like mine as a Ranger is against the animals I hunt.

I'm not saying it never works out that way, but I dont' believe it's a universal truth.

You can say it retrospectively for particular cases, as with your examples, but I dont' believeyou can claim it for every single future case.

I am not using it as a universal truth,it's a sig for a MMORPG game.

lol, if it's a sig then you're stating it !

Anyway, sorry, I'll leave your poor sig alone now. It just hits a chord with me, because it smacks of all these hollow "positivity" tapes/courses/videos, etc.

I think there are many people living in bad situations that would find that line a smack in the face. Argh, I'm off again.

I apologise for flaming your sig, it's just a bit of "red rag to a bull" thing for me.
