What are the new melee and ranged defense modifiers going to be for Rangers after the revamp?

1000 melee, 985 ranged.

It'll be a long while before they're even close to setting those.

Pida, Master Ranger, Master Creature Handler
Kobak, Master Commando, Master BH
Muddy Master DE, Master WS

Iconic professions. Ok. Chewbacca was a Scout. How come that didn't stay?

When you think about it, aren't almost all of the original professions iconic? You can find something on each of them in the Expanded Universe.

I miss being a Ranger. It was more than a profession, it was a virtual way of life. It wasn't for everyone. But those who took it up became family.
