First let me say that im pretty far into Ranger, already Trapping Master.

And i just have to say, between the fact that Ranger traps NEVER work, you need at LEAST engineer 2 to make any of our stuff, and the extra harvesting is about worthless *+2 hides? what the?*.. The camps are handy, but thats only if you're killing tons of stuff, or surveying...

The Wayfairer, aka explorer part 2, is worthless to me cause i use melee weapons. I mean cmon, do you think i realy need a faster prone movement when wielding a 2H Axe?

Was this the last profession on the to-do list or something? Scout Part 2....Can't this have at least one UNIQUE thing about it?

Oh and whatever person said Hides/Bones make money, has to be kidding. To even get 1000 hides *equals roughly 5-10k on the open market* i'll make over 20-30k on the mission rewards.

After tonight i'll be working up marksman, and practically remaking my chr so i can at least salvage him to become a BH

If Ranger is what you want to do, I wouldn't scrap him yet. You are going to find little salvation in the BH tree, it's even more boring than the Ranger tree right now. My advice would be to wait it out, but to each his own.

Eh....I'm actually a little disapointed in how my ranger is turning out too. Scout part 2 is a more appropriate title.

Ranger must be the only advanced/elite profession that doesn't get any new useful abilities....I don't I've ever used rescue.

Ah well....I've also just trained in CH so I'm at least having fun with that.

you need at LEAST engineer 2 to make any of our stuff,

Can someone please elaborate on this. I am only a scout at the moment but I do not have any engineering skills and I have no problems crafting the second level camps and traps. What "stuff" do we need engineer 2 to make?

You don't need engineering 2 to make anything that I am aware of, although you do get general crafting experience for making traps and camps.

You do not need Artisian or Enggy to craft the items in the scout or rnager tree. You do need Metals and Polymer. I guess this had made people take Artisian so they can survey it them selves, but there is no need just buy it or have a friend give you 100 of each, which should last a few days.

Just like any other craftable item, how high up you are in artisan will dictate the quality of your item. Thats why youll never have a high quality camp or trap without some skill points dedicated to artisan.

What is the difference between the quality of a rangers traps/camps who is not high up in artisan compared to one who is. If it is just the inability to survey resources then I seen no problem. Are you saying that the artisan/rangers traps will be more effective than say a ranger/riflemans would be?

I'd like to know more on that as well. I've got some traps now that are using metals and such, so I took artisan so I could sample for the small amounts I'm using for them. What am I going to need Eng 2 to get?

The engineering part is refering to more of the ranger traps/camps.

They complexity *difficulty* on these is high, and if you don't have some kind of crafing skill *aka engineering, domestic* you're going to fail...a lot.. Even with engineering 2 i still fail to make a lot of the *broken* ranger traps and camps.

Btw for some reason today all leathery hide creatures on tatooine now give only 1 hide...

And i heard last night from a master frontiersman that the Field Base Camp is broken, he said its healing factor is way off.

um. u guys are a bit misinformed. ill try and clarify. u absolutely do not need any artisan skill to craft any scout/ranger items ever. as far as getting a lot of failures i find that hard to believe, i rarely fail; perhaps u have a really crappy crafter youre using- crafter quality is very important when calculating success rate. nothing craftable on the scout/ranger tree has any stat quality requirements with the exception of camo kits, and then only for the purpose of stack size. there is no such thing as a high quality trap, camp, etc. they are all the same. not quite sure but my opinion is that its meant to be this way so u can sell/trade the high quality organics u harvest and use the junk to make traps, camps, etc. crafting scout/ranger stuff does not earn u general crafting xp it earns u survival xp. every ranger trying to grind up the survival tree for master knows this. on a sidenote fishing also earns u survival xp. as far as making money off of organics beleive me it is very possible. i dont even bother with missions anymore. theyre a waste of time and effort. besides mission lairs spawn differently than natural lairs. a ranger who is worth his salt can milk a natural lair for at least 2.5 times the creatures u can get from a mission lair.with harvesting skill before they gave master rangers the boost and changed group dynamics rangers could harv about 30% morethan master scouts. after theharvest changes the bonus a master ranger gets, especially when grouped with another master ranger, is enormous.as far as the money is concerned consider this. my last hunting trip brought me to dathomir for an avian meat spawn. this was pre-cu so avian was still highly desirable by docs and fetching 125cpu on the open market. as im a nice guy and dont believe in gouging my fellow players i sold mine for 100cpu. i farmed the spawn for 3 days. approximately one buff a day. might have got an extra one in there. i ended up with 160k of dath avian meat at 100cpu thats 16 million credits. in 3 days. lets just say the solo nerf didnt effect me at all because i never needed to get in a solo grp to make a living. anyway i hope this cleared things up for u guys. hope i got it in before the flames hit u. good luck young rangers and remember. practice, practice, practice.

oh yeah and another thing. complexity on ranger/scout items is not very high. its very low. u can craft anything from the scout/ranger trees with a just a crafter in the field. more complex items require a public or private crafting station and sometimes even a factory.

OK, Jonn(?) I see from your post count that you're new round here, but, rule #1 "Necro Posting Is Bad" because it makes Yoda cry.

If it's worth commenting on, don't resurrect a long dead post, start a new thread and either cut and paste the important parts into a new post or make a link to the original.

" hope i got it in before the flames hit u." I think the fact nobody had replied to the thread since October 2003 said it all...
