I finally decided to do some PvPing cause I just got the highest level traps as a ranger. I see this rebel with a pet cat. I figure hey I can trap the cat then kill him. He sees me as I target the cat the cat comes running at me. I hit my trap hot key, i get message saying "invalid target". WHAT THE F#$%!!!!

Whats the point of having PvP if its only set for a few classes. The whole point of my Fin proffesion is to kill animals and I can't do a **edit** thing if the animal is a pet. So what happens then that pet runs up to me and hits me for 3k dmg which my race can only have 1k max health and I die outright even wearing full set padded.

As I see it 1 of 2 things needs to happen:

1. Rangers get the abillity to effect pets and efficiently kill them.

or

2. Rangers get the abillity to take extremely less-no damage from pets.

Otherwise there is no point to being a ranger and PvP and as I see it every class should give some benifit to PvPing.

This is on the list of things. Yes it does suck.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

While I agree that we should be able to trap pets (and people actually... that tranq dart works better on a person than an elephant, possibly even killing the person where it only puts the elepant to sleep, but I digress...), there are plenty of other professions that can't do very well at PvP either. Master Architect is the first one that comes to mind

Pida, Master Ranger, Master Creature Handler
Kobak, Master Commando, Master BH
Muddy Master DE, Master WS
Katrina' Master Doc, Master ID, Musician

Guys,

The devs recognize that this needs to change, and I'm confident that it will be resolved soon.

I can understand how you feel.

I've always loved the fantasy rpg ranger, so I was rather curious how it fit into the "Star Wars" universe. My first thought was, "This game has a PvP element... perhaps Ranger is close to Spec Op?" That idea stuck with me and I was hooked. I loved the concept of stealth.. sneaking up on opponents, scouting out enemy positions, etc. Logically, we should be able to take out at least pets in PvP, right?

It didn't take me too long to realize that that is not the SWG Ranger -- yet. We seem to be purely PvE.I'm really hoping this change is implemented, that they are indeed "working on it." Throw in the proposed changes (tracking anyone?) and I'm seeing a bit more of my initial concept of Ranger.

So honestly, I'm opting for patience. In the meantime, I'm playing up on my support role and using covert status to helpmyfriends out when I can -- I can always relay information, right? I'd love to get into the fighting a bit, but I needto get my pistoleer up for that Whether Ranger stayspurePvE or gets alittle PvP skills, I never expect Rangers to be very PvP centered. However, that is the beauty of the skill system. So where did that character builder go?
