Now before I start I would like to clarify that I am not after anything but a clarification. I am not trying to whinge or whine.

Now having clarified that.

I was reading the Squad leader forum boards and had a look at the changes that have comming over the next few development cycles. (I used to bea Squad Leader so I still have an interest).

Most of the changes look pretty good to be honest and will add a greater flavour to the class. The only thing that struck me as odd was the 'Forced march' skill which may be added. This seemed to a new skill which allowed the party to move at burst run speed until borken by combat.

Now having seen a post before that specificaly said that there would be no speed increases for the generic character, can anyone yay or nay this?

It just seems a little odd ifa large squad of assorted professions will be fly past rangers out there in the field?

Regards

Fenrix.

Squad - fast movement rate, high risk of attack (group size, things spawning in people's faces)
Ranger - regular movement rate, no risk of attack (camoflage)

As a SL, that's how I see it.

ya toxotes but it still wouldnt make sense to be able to do that..especially since a squad leader can become a CH . Group his pet and be at burst run speed at all times.. which im sure noone brought up hoping it would come into play and the devs would realize this too late.......

I don't think groupmovement should be confined to SL. It's a pain in the neck when you're in a group and you have to keep stopping to wait for others to catch up. Groups should run as fast as their fastest members.

I'm not saying this to take away from SL, they should be able to run at speed burst anytime and some other benefits for group terrain. To say that every group should have a SL at the helm is unrealistic, especially this early in the game.

I think that Squad leaders should be able to confer the ability to negotiate terrain to non scout trained PC's. I also think that they should be able to force their group to run ( or give them the oppertunity to) I was just wondering if anyone knew if this was a permanent run ability outside of combat.

I'll be a little miffed if it is but I can easily live with it. Squad Leader have had a hard time as well.

I just dont think they should have a max burst run speed if they can do it unti snared in combat...it should be slower ( so the mor specialized runners can still go faster) but still faster then master scout ( so that ts actually useful)

Actually, I can give the nod to SL's having that ability. Remember, no one class gets it hands on every ability that might be useful to them. Take our specialized tracking ability we are getting, the BH's argue that they'd like to have that ability....the same applies to us and the SL movement advantages.

Basically, if you want all the movement advantages, SL + Ranger is the way to go...not only that, but the combination of the two would be very very beneficial with the changes coming. The tradeoff would be lowered direct combat ability, but you would compensate for that by leading large groups

I honestly don't have a problem with this change and with Rangers missing out.

What if Squad leaders could give everyone the best of each of the group mates skills:

That is, the group has the max of its burst run, movement, sneak, etc of any member of its group. Thus, the key is to get good, well rounded groups.

So Rangers would be in demand for terrain negotioan and burst run effeciency, rifleman for sneak (I think that is who gets it, I could be wrong, it may be scout), etc. Maybe even applay that to other combat skills like ranged aiming, etc. Then the SL woule truly be a mulitplier w/o taking away skills from other classes. They'd be more like a catalyst.
