I'm not implying anything by the title, I mean it quite literally. I want to know the perks of the profession and it's effectiveness. It's one of the few I haven't yet tried.

If you are looking to experiment, wait till the next big patch. That is when Rangers get Tracking and Conceal. And there will be more things after that.

In the next patch, could Ranger's track NPCs or just mobs?

As a ranger, I adore the fact that /mask has only broken on me once. Just once. Wow is it useful! I haven't gone too far up the ranger tree yet (sad to say goodbye to all those artisan skills) but I simply LOVE the high end camps. I like being a mobile med center. That high healing modifier is priceless. Even if I only have the Field Base kit right now, when people wander by and see what looks like an oversized pit BBQ tent with a grill (food/chem crafting station) and plenty of tables and seating, I get all sorts of comments. Need a place to pull out your pet? Stop on by. Need a place to shed those unwanted wound points? Have a seat and try some freshly foraged fruit. Better for you than spices, even if you don't get -quite- the rush.

I have never met a Ranger hater.

To expand on that, Rangers seem to, generally, be universally respected. As well as never meeting any Ranger haters, I have never met another Ranger who hasn't been a decent person. I've also never had to go to an NPC to get training. If I need training, Rangers have come from the middle of nowhere to do it for me, and I do the same.

We have a good raport with Medics and Doctors, as we're usually their principle organics supplier. I usually tip Medics and Docs with good Herbivore Meat. They usually respond with some great free buffs.

Anyway, those are non skill based advantages to being a Ranger.

ive just always enjoyed the "Ranger" class. I was a little disappointed at first, but now with the changes -all the hard work i have put into getting up the tree is paying off. Plus its great now that more people will show interest in the class - making us more of a viable member of a group. I was just enjoying it as it was and making some money off hides/meats - and now it gets even better.

It also seems that Rangers like other Rangers better. Who else will see a campsite while running across the plains and go out of their way tochange their course just to stop in and say "Hi, nice camp. Enjoy the free XP boost" ? It seems like we're few and far in between when wading through pistoleers and creature handlers so that makes us a sort of brotherhood. If you see another ranger standing around in the starport looking annoyed at being there, you immediately have something to talk about and relate to. "So, you suffered through trapping and camping too, eh?"
