Thread: The Emperor's New Clothes, er, Camo Kit

Or maybe the better title is: Does /conceal actually do anything?

I created some camo kits on Naboo this morning. I was pretty excited when I finally hit /conceal and bam! I'm concealed. I'm concealed? I felt like invisible boy on Mystery Men, I am only invisible when nobody is actually looking at me.

There are no visual indications that I have been /concealed. Not even that funny nose icon that shows that I am /maskscent'd. I ran around and occasionally when /maskscent said it failed caught a little aggro. Bizness as usual.

So the question of the day is: Is /conceal doing anything at all? Or are we just running around in our underwear?

"There are no visual indications that I have been /concealed."

- Apparently there is no message regarding it wearing off either.

- So /bug it and I'm sure that the GUI people will put something in.

In my experience, I did get the little nose icon, but I saw no benefit at all over normal maskscent. It seems to break on 1 out of 3 creatures, which really makes it entirely useless. Actually it's worse than worthless, as breaking your maskscent/concealment now pretty much guarantees an attack, and a camo kit is very expensive resource wise. I can walk around low level aggros without much trouble usually without any ms, but with ms I am in constant danger of it breaking and being attacked.

It's true for a ranger with wayfaring III anyway. Maybe it will be fixed.

I am sorry to inform you that yes, it is true.

I had such high hopes that things would actually get fixed this time around....

Oh well, guess this will give me something to look forward to in the next patch.

(Disclaimer: If I seem very pessimistic today, its probably just becuase I am pretty sick at the moment)

- That's the spirit... I think.

- Rereading the /conceal documentation in the Coorespondent Reponse (the part about it rarely breaking), I suspect the problems with /conceal (and /maskscent) breaking so often are indeed bugs, and not the intended result.

- Have faith... The developer IS listening.

I wonder if it is because we usually run to get anywhere. I'd hate to have to crawl (or walk)everywhere.

Nope - just tried walking, crawling, etc. Still got agro'd by everything and its cousin (literally). Only lasted about 5 min at Explore I and you can't maskscent with it one (FYI). Did get a system message though when it wore off. Basically no better than maskscent - but I am getting XP for successful checks again

I went up to wayfaring three for the terrain negotiation, as that would have been my last skill point in my character layout. However, now that wayfaring three terrain negotiation has been combined into level 4's modifier, there doesn't seem to be much point for me to keep ranger, or the survival and trapping branches from scout, even. Cammo is a) apparently worthless and b) too expensive for me to even care about trying (I just about laughed out loud until I realized that the joke was on me). *sigh* Ranger sounded fun, I'm so saddened by the lost potential.
