Thread: What, exactly, will camo kits do that couldn't be done before?

I haven't tried any of the new ranger skills, so I won't whine about the particularsuntil we're a few weeks into this.

However, given the new presence of camo kits and the conceal ability, what can individuals or groups accomplish that they already weren't? Before we whine and moan about ingredients and such, we need to think about the merit of the conceal ability, if any.

Personally, I have never had a group member say 'Wow, I wish I could maskscent like you' or 'Man, if we could just sneak past those NPCs we could reach our destination'.

No, we simply circle around them if possible or kill whatever detects and attacks us. And since the purpose of a hunt is to kill things for XP, nobody seems to mind.Or when we have a distance to travel (say to a Jedi temple or something), once we stumble into a dangerous area, people just burstrun through it until they reach a safe haven.

The point is that unless something has changed dramatically, I cant imagine anyone asking me to conceal them. Or even if so, having the outcome be any different than it was 48 hours ago.

Like I said, I haven't tried it yet and we don't know if useful opportunities to use camo kits will present themselves. But I can't think of something I can do today that I couldn't do yesterday.

Currently, it's not worth the resources. It needs tweaking because it's just not very effective. The only benefit is that it can now work on NPCs, but it's no better than maskscent for creatures, in fact, since im only wayfaring III, I bet my concealment is actually worse than my maskscent.

This is the problem, now isn't it..

No one ever said they wished they could /maskscent like me before becuase /maskscent has been broken and, in my opinion, worthless... So far, /conceal is following in /maskscents footsteps.

For something that cost so many resources to make, it sure doeslast a short time (16 minutes and 4 seconds is my only test duration so far)... That is if it holds up against every fourth creature you encounter.

Second Test Duration results are:

14:19:25 You are now concealed from view by complex camouflage.

14:36:04 Your masked scent has worn off.

Duration: 16 Minutes and 39 Seconds

This test was done sitting in a Field Base, harvesting for Tatooinian Wild Oats. Not a blip on the radar.

Camo Kit: Tatooine

20 units of Tatooine Reptilian Meat... 60 credits

30 units of Tatooine Wooly Hides... 120 credits

10 units of Tatooine Animal Bone... 30 credits

15 units of Tatooine Wild Oats... 45 credits

Total price of Camo Kit at bargain rates... 250 credits

Value of Camo kit... worthless, in my opinion.

Sorry to be such a pessimist today. I'm pretty sick with a fever so hopefully this patch wont seem so bad when I get over it.

Is it perhaps that they nerfed maskscent in such a fashion that now we have to use conceal to compensate for it? Lesser abilities at a higher cost?

Forget all the other discussion about conceal, save this question: What can my hunting party do today that it couldnt do yesterday? Can anyone answer this question?

I don't mind themtweaking gameplay while I pay. But I do mind them inventing the gameplay and charging me to test it. That's just wrong.

come on guys dont you see the logic in their eyes behind this?

It's another time sink or at the very least another reason you have to use the player driven economy.

It's smoke and mirrors trying to keep us thinking we have more to do.

- Convenience my friend.

- If I spend my time and effort harvesting the resources myself, I'm not doing something that interests me more. But I can pay someone else to do it for me, while I'm having fun on other things.

- As well, many people don't have 15 points to spend on Artisan to gain the benefits of Survey.
