Thread: PvP Editorial: Using Area Track to it's Full Potential
Well, I'm amazed. I used areatrack last night fora few hours with my Guild. It doesn't seem to be that great when used forAnimals, but for tracking Players - it's amazing. It seems to reliably find any players within about500 meters or so. Very effective, and I'm going todetail how I used it last night.
We were ata Rebel Outpost that had some Overt Imperialsnearby the baseusing TEF's to killRebels doing destroy missions. People were frantically running around the base, screaming "Three Imps ganged up on me! Help!" Well, I had a fewGuildies there so we headed south out of the base.
I used /who imperial and found a list of Overt Imperials in the area. It returned threeresults withnames, titles and Guilds.
After I got this information, I told the group tohold tight while I performed my first AreaTrack on Players. Results came back with about 40 names in the area....I scanned the list andindeed found the three Imperial playersfound on my /who search. I got a fix on their location and informed the group. They were about 275m North West of our present location.
We decided to circle around them from theside. After about 100m of travel, we stopped and I tracked again....150 meters out, all three still in a group, no sign of any drastic movement since the last track. Ok, now we defintely have the advantage....they don't knowwhere we are,but weabsolutely know where they are. We pull out our Rebel Troops, and Icall out my Graul Mauler to assist in the battle.
We close in on their locationsand quickly incap & deathblow all of them. They neversaw us coming as they were concentrating on Rebels coming fromthe opposite direction.Cheers erupted from many nearby Rebels...for some reason these three Imps had apparently been killingTEF Rebels with impunity for a couple of hours. My whole group cheered for the new Ranger skills that came with this patch, and I actually had FUN playing aRanger for a change.
Unfortunately this will probablybe nerfed soon. This is really my only viable skill in the Galactic Civil War....but many non-Rangers will be crying about it soon. The only thing going for us is this is nearly a Master-level Skill and there aren't too many Rangers about. What do you guys think?
