Thread: Do we need surgical droids?
I'm a new Ranger and I was hoping some pros could answer the following question -
With the ability to make advanced, improved, high-q camps and field base kits, does it make sense for a Ranger to spend money on a medical/surgical droid?
The big benefit of those droids, it seems, is healing wounds in the wild, with some boost in the effectiveness of the meds used.
But with the camps, we already can heal wounds in the wild AND heal Mind pool if we have an entertainer. Plus, we get that regen bonus, too.
So....is there any benefit to a Ranger having a medical/surgical droid? Or is it kinda redundant?
Thanks,
Squirk
Wow, this is a new one.
I think you are correct, why bother? The camps are more or less surgical droids in and of themselves.
For quick heals in a city I have an R5 unit with medical capabilities that lets me use heal packs. Out in the wilds, I just pop a camp and heal away. I really don't see why you would get a surgical droid. They walk funny anyhow.

Ihave two probot droids with medical capabilities. While their canons aren't great at doing any damage, they are somewhat decent tanks, and are real good to use as lair ticklers. They also increase the effectiveness of my meds during combat. If one of them gets badly damaged in combat, I throw up a quick camp and trade it for the other one. They are also handy for healing people in the city. All this makes them fairly versatile to use, but when I'm in a camp that enhances healing better than they do, theyjust kind of hang out with me.
