Thread: Camp help
Hmm, that's a bit of a tough one since it would take lots of trial and error with each camp to find out when exactly you could disband and still get the full xp, but I'll give you what I know of:
Basic Camp - Max xp: 640
Multiperson Camp - Max xp: 800
Improved Camp - Max xp: 1000
High Quality Camp - Max xp: 1100
Field Base - Max xp: 1250
High Tech Field Base - Max xp: 1400
I believe that it basically takes the same amount of time to get the max xp for all camps if you're alone: about 50 minutes. But at about 30 minutes you get 75% or more of the max, so it's not really worth the time to spend an entire 50 minutes waiting for the full xp. Also, some of these figures may be incorrect since I'm going off of memory and I haven't used many of these camps in quite a while, so if anyone has updated info, please share it here. I know for sure though that you can use a camp that is one level higher than your skill is, so at Survival III you can use the Improved Camp that you can make at Survival IV and at Master Scout you can use the Novice Ranger's High Quality Camp.
Just being a lump on a log will max most camps within 21 minutes. Doing anything, to include having a wound heal, decreases that time.
Macros waste an additional 30 minutes, as camps only auto-disband after 50 mins and some seconds, and there is not a disband command other than on the radial.
Hint, find a medic who needs xp. Let medic shoot at you in a duel. Pop a camp. Let medic heal you. Everyone gets xp.

Now THERE'S an idea! Duel each other until someone's incapacitated, heal, and repeat. Do that a couple of times, disband, throw down a new camp, and repeat. Just make sure you trust the person not to death blow you.
Back when I had some surveying skills and I was thinking of going for weaponsmith, I used to survey while in camp. That drains your action and mind pools, giving your camp something to heal, so you could sample longer than normal and get more resources. Do about four or five sampling rounds, disband the camp, throw down a new one, and repeat.
Why can't you all just go to somewhere like Anchorhead, get a hunting party of about 10 players and go hunt dewbacks. You get ample trapping exp, scouting exp, and even the high-end camps (field bases) will max out in 2 minutes. When I am ona hunt, I usually set up two or three camps inbetween missions. Also, you get a (albeit little) bit of cash with the successfull missions! THAT is the way to do the Ranger profession if you ask me, ---> actually doing the Ranger thing, not just laying around incapping and healing - that get's WAY too boring...

Ideally, that's the way to do it, yes. I was able to do some of that while I was leveling Scout way back when and it was definitely the most fun. But it seems like every time I tried to find a group when I was still trying to make Master Ranger, they would either just throw down a camp whenever they felt like (including the ones who didn't need a lick of xp), or they would be too antsy to sit in a camp for even 30 seconds. It became too much hassle for me to try to find a group that wasn't made up in impatient children, so I ended up doing a lot of it solo.
