Thread: Ranger Combat Enhancements....
/add Still think a ranger should be able to use traps on NPC's and Player's though. i.e. Guerrilla Warfare, "At this skill level, the Ranger's experience has shown her the need for new, more effective trap designs. They apply their creative energy to the implementation of traps that will effect multiple enemies at a time." "The Scout of this level designs traps that are the envy of military forces throughout the galaxy.", "Martial trap design involves the Scout integrating modern military theory into her trap design and creation process."
/add Combat should be allowed in camps and provide some /cover bonus and defensive bonus i.e. "Advanced Camp Engineereing involves the study of camp defense and tactical design. The Ranger's camps become more defensible, as well as cleaner: healers will find their skills more effective in the elite camp.", "At this level the scout's camp become extremely secure, having a good chance of repulsing aggressive creatures."
Qoutes taken straight from the Skill Tree Descriptions.
What do you other Rangers think?

Agreed. Unfortunately it appears as if this is not a high priority with the dev's, particularly given the current problem with harvesting resources. Camp abadonment/camp cover/camp combat/camp not repelling aggro has been a problem for quite some time. I really wish they would address this as soon as the harvest issue is dealt with.
I liked rereading the exact quotes from the skill description. You would think that dev's would take a look at those descriptions before each patch/change, to see how closely in line they are with the original intent of the skill. I very much appreciate their work load, but sometimes the answerscould beright in front of them without them even realizing it.

Wow you really nailed it there. They really do need to read what they put in the game. It's getting frustrating that we still have traps. I am considering trying out a new profession, and I have to drop something. So I'm thinking Adv Trapping, since its worthless, and easy to obtain back.
"The developers have deemed our profession to be the Ultimate Creature Hunters."
Question: Does this REALLY annoy anyone else in the Ranger community, I'll refer you back tomy original post. According to SWG's own skill descriptions we should not JUST be the Ultimate creature hunters.
"The design of the profession roles and their unique skills have proven to be a fluid and dynamic thing, reconstructed on the fly as gameplay issues surface. I doubt there even exists any master guidline or roadmap at all for how the roles and ablitiesmeld together with the SWG."
Exactly...
- However the developers initially envisioned our profession is not necessarily the way they envision it now.
Though I do believe they are trying to formulate a definitive definition for the professions to streamline the development process.
We asked them to choose a specific path, and they chose one...
- Of course, with such a wide variety of players in this community, no one path was going to satisfy everyone.

Once I am finished reading all the posts, I will have a better handle on how this "revelation" has been taken by the community...
- And thenwe will get together and determinehow best to proceed.
Yep, still necro posting. ![]()
